EU/EEA citizens are not required to pay tuition fee to enroll in degree programmes in Denmark as their tuition fee is covered by the Danish state.
Most non-EU/EEA citizens are required to pay tuition fee. However, click here to see which non-EU/EEA citizens are exempt from paying tuition fee.
In regards to Brexit: British citizens who can document having EU rights eg. by documenting updated residence permit papers or other documentation showing residency in Denmark before the end of 2020 will also be exempt from paying tuition fee.
If you are unsure whether or not you are exempt from paying the tuition fee please send an email to optagelse@adm.dtu.dk with a copy of your residence permit and we will be able to clarify your status.

Refunds
First-semester students who are not yet enrolled at DTU
Students who have paid the tuition fee, but who, for various reasons, are not enrolled at DTU after all (e.g. did not qualify for a residence permit), can receive a full refund of their tuition fee after 1 October/1 March.
First-semester students who have commenced the first semester
Students who drop out of their studies before 1 November/1 April of their first semester at DTU have the right to have 50 per cent of the tuition fee refunded, excluding bank charges, regardless of the reason for withdrawing from their studies. Only students who submit a written withdrawal request to optagelse@adm.dtu.dk no later than 1 November/1 April of their first semester at DTU—may receive a refund of 50 per cent of their tuition fee, excluding bank charges.
Other instances
In case of serious illness or death (one self, a partner or a member of the immediate family) it is possible to apply for a refund of the tuition fee for the semester already commenced. The application (including attached documentation) for a refund of the tuition fee must be submitted in writing to optagelse@adm.dtu.dk no later than three weeks after the request to withdraw from studies has been submitted to the Study Administration. The Dean of the programme in question will make the decision in the matter.
Students who have paid for a full academic year, and who withdraw from their studies no later than 14 days prior to the start of the second semester of the academic year, have the right to have the tuition fee for the second semester refunded, excluding bank charges.
The tuition fee will not normally be refunded to students after 1 November/1 April of their first semester at DTU. However, written applications for refunds will be considered in special cases (i.e. in cases where the applicant can prove that DTU has not lived up to its obligations). The application must be submitted in writing to optagelse@adm.dtu.dk. The Dean of the programme in question shall make the decision in the matter.
Applications for tuition fee refunds that are submitted more than one year after payment will not be considered.
Technical University Of Denmark Courses
The university is governed by a board consisting of 10 members: Six members are recruited from outside the university and they form the majority of the board. One member is appointed by the scientific staff and one member is appointed by the administrative staff. Two members are appointed by the university students.
The President of DTU is appointed by the university board. The President in turn appoints the Deans, and the Deans appoint the Heads of the departments.
In 2014, DTU was granted institutional accreditation by the Danish Accreditation Institution (a member of ENQA). The institutional accreditation ensures that the quality assurance system of the institution is well-described, well-argued, and well-functioning in practice.
Since DTU has no faculty senate, and since the faculty is not involved in the appointment of the President, Deans, or Department heads, the university has no faculty governance.[6]
