Texas A&M University Health Science Center (TAMU-HSC) is a public university that offers a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree program. The school was founded in 1976 and is located in the city of Temple, Texas. The school’s College of Pharmacy has an acceptance rate of 84%.
The TAMU-HSC College of Pharmacy offers a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) degree program. This four-year program includes classroom instruction, clinical experience, and research opportunities for students interested in becoming pharmacists. Students will learn about all aspects of pharmacy practice, including pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, therapeutics, compounding and dispensing medications, pharmacy law and regulations, business management skills, community health education programs for patients with chronic diseases such as diabetes or hypertension (hypertension), among many other topics.

To be considered for admission into the PharmD program at the Texas A&M Irma Lerma Rangel College of Pharmacy, Priority and Regular applicants must:
- Have a cumulative GPA, as determined by PharmCAS, of 2.75 or higher.
- Complete a minimum of 74 semester credit hours of prerequisite coursework at an accredited college or university. Applications lacking one or more prerequisites are considered if the applicant is enrolled in, or plans to enroll in, courses that fulfill missing prerequisites. If accepted into the program, all missing prerequisites must be satisfactorily completed (a C grade or higher) by summer session I in the year of matriculation.

Texas A&M Pharmacy Acceptance Rate
To be considered for admission into the PharmD program at the Rangel College of Pharmacy, applicants must:
- Have a cumulative GPA, as determined by PharmCAS, of 2.75 or higher.
- Complete all prerequisite coursework by Summer Session I in the year of matriculation.
- Earn a preferred composite PCAT score of 40 or higher and a preferred PCAT writing score of 3.0 or greater. (Optional, see more information below)

- Applicants who have not been enrolled in a degree program at a college or university for two years or more must submit three recommendation forms to PharmCAS from a combination of the following categories: Professors (math and science), pharmacists, other health care professionals (e.g., medicine, nursing, dentistry), or current and previous employers.

Texas A&M University has more than 5,000 students enrolled in their pharmacy program, and the acceptance rate is about 1.8 percent. That means that only about 180 students are accepted into the school every year.
The application process for Texas A&M is a bit different from most other schools’ in that you don’t need to submit SAT or ACT scores, but you do need to have completed high school and/or college-level courses in Biology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Physics, English Composition and Math.
In addition to submitting your transcripts and test scores (if applicable), you’ll need to take two standardized exams: The Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT) and the Pharmacy College Admissions Test Subject Assessment (PCAT-SA). You’ll also need letters of recommendation from teachers who can attest to your academic abilities and leadership skills.
