International Students

An International applicant is not a citizen or permanent resident of the United States who will be studying under an immigrant or non-traditional visa type including, but not limited to, the following visa types:

  • F-1/F-2 student visa
  • J-1/J-2: exchange visitor visa
  • H-4/H1-B: specialty occupation visa

The requirements for getting into graduate school are the same for international students as domestic ones. However, in addition to the documents listed on theย Application Processย page, international applicants must also submit the following documents to Graduate Admissions:

  • Copy of Current Visa (if applicable)
  • International Transcript Evaluation Report – effective March 1, 2017, the University requires an international transcript evaluation report (course by course) which includes all transcripts from international colleges and universities from one of the University approved evaluation agencies listed below (except for MS Computer Science, MS Geospatial Systems Engineering and Ph.D. Geospatial Computer Science Programs):

NOTE: Applicants who hold a 3 year bachelor degree’s must be determined that the 3 year degree is equivalent to a U.S bachelor’s degree by the evaluation agency.

  • English Language Proficiency. Applicants whose first language is not English must provide proof of English Proficiency before being admitted into a graduate program. TAMU-CC currently accepts the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Test scores must be within the last 2 years and sent directly from the testing agency to be considered official. 
    • Official TOEFL Scores (Test of English as a Foreign Language) – Minimum paper-based score of 550 or the equivalent internet-based score of 79-80 OR
    • Official IELTS Scores (International English Language Testing System) – Minimum score requirement: 6.5

International applicants are exempt from submitting a TOEFL or IELTS score IF one of the following conditions is met:

  • The applicant completed a bachelor’s degree at a U.S. or another English-only speaking country, or
  • The applicant successfully completed two years of instruction (taught in the English Language) at a U.S. or Canadian college.
  • Please visit theย Office of Admissionsย website for a list of countries that are exempt from submitting a TOEFL or IELTS score.

International Pathway Programs

If you are a prospective international student who does not meet the entry requirements for an undergraduate course, you have the opportunity to apply for anย International Yearย program, offered at theย International Study Center.

Upon successful completion, you can progress to degree level study at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

International Students

*For students who receive an International Scholarship, please note that the International Scholarships will not make you eligible for an instate tuition waiver due to the increased amounts of the scholarship awards.

New and Continuing International Undergraduate and Graduate Students

Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi offers scholarships to eligible international students. In order for funds to be annually disbursed, undergraduate students must be enrolled at A&M-Corpus Christi in a minimum of 30 semester credit hours in an academic year. Graduate students must complete at 18 hours or 21 hours (if a student has a major in the College of Science & Engineering) of graduate level courses in an academic year. Undergraduate and graduate students must also meet the specified scholarship requirements.

Undergraduate students may receive the scholarship for a maximum of four years of undergraduate study. Graduate students may be awarded for a maximum of two years. Awards are limited to availability of funds. TAMU-CC ESLi graduates are not eligible to apply; exceptions may be made for ESLi alumni who have completed their initial degree under ESLi and continue at the University for a higher-level degree.Undergraduate StudentsApplication open October 15 – May 1Graduate StudentsApplication open Dec 15 – June 10

Eligibility & Renewal Requirements

* Must complete the scholarship application. Submit the requested rรฉsumรฉ and 500-word essay.

* Must maintain at least a 3.0 GPA at the end of each academic year (fall, spring and summer).

* Undergraduate students must successfully complete 30 semester credit hours in an academic year

* Graduate students from the College of Nursing, Business, Liberal Arts, and Education and Human Development must complete 18 hours of graduate level courses in an academic year. Graduate students from the College of Science and Engineering must complete 21 hours of graduate level courses in an academic year.

* Must be continuously enrolled in classes.
