The TLU Promise

We believe all students should be able to afford a small, private college experience.

For that reason, we promise at least $20,000 per year for up to four years to admitted students with a 4.0 core academic GPA.

Academic Scholarships for First-Year Students

We are test optional, so no SAT/ACT score is required to qualify for academic scholarships. See below for additional awards if you submit a SAT/ACT test score.

SAT/ACT Test Takers

If you take the SAT and score 1100 or above, or the ACT and score 22 or above, you will want to submit your test score to earn an additional $1,000 to $3,000 depending on your score. The SAT/ACT award of $1,000-$3,000 is in addition to your Academic Scholarship (Heritage, Academic Excellence, TLU Promise, or Presidential). Test scores must be received by May 1, 2022to be eligible for a SAT/ACT award.

Transfer Honor AwardScholarship for incoming transfer students accepted to Texas Lutheran University. Applicants must have a minimum of 24 transferable credit hours and a minimum 2.75 GPA. Due date and number of awards may vary. Renewable.

Pacesetter Awards for College Excellence (PACE)Scholarship for incoming freshmen accepted to Texas Lutheran University. Selection based on academic achievement, essays and interviews. Due date and number of awards may vary. Renewable. 

Performance AwardsScholarship for undergraduate students attending Texas Lutheran University who participate in the school’s musis program. Selection based on auditions. Due date and number of awards may vary. Renewable. 

Jones Fine Arts for Dramatic Media MajorsScholarship for undergraduate students attending Texas Lutheran University who are majoring in Dramatic Media. Selection based on auditions. Due date and number of awards may vary. Renewable.

Texas Scholarships

Jerry Flemmons Drama ScholarshipScholarship for undergraduate students who have an interest in drama and are attending Tarleton State University. Number of awards and award amount may vary.

Outstanding Geography Graduate Student ScholarshipAnnual award for graduate student attending the University of North Texas full-time, majoring in Geography. Applicant must be the most outstanding student in the Geography program. Due date and award amount varies.

George & Betty Jane Morrison Early Childhood Education ScholarshipAnnual award for undergraduate student attending the University of North Texas full-time, majoring in Early Childhood Education. Applicant must have demonstrated academic excellence. Award amount varies.

William R. “Doc” Forkner MemorialScholarship for undergraduate students attending the University of Houston pursuing a career teaching Industrial Technology. Applicants must show leadership qualities and be enrolled in Technology Leadership and Supervision. Number of awards and award amount may vary.

Geezles Endowed ScholarshipScholarship for undergraduate students attending the University of North Texas full-time. Applicants must have academic achievement with a minimum 2.0 GPA. Submit FAFSA application (available January 2nd) for financial eligibility. Number of awards and award amount varies.

STOA International ScholarshipScholarship for Asian language speaking graduate students attending the University of Houston enrolled in the College of Architecture. Selection is based on portfolio and admisstions materials. Deadlines and award amounts may vary.

Sallie Mae Education Trust Endowed ScholarshipScholarship for undergraduate students enrolling/enrolled in Central Texas College any campus. Applicant must have a minimum 2.00 GPA and financial need. Preference given to dependents of Sallie Mae Inc. employees. In addition to application student must submit a financial aid form, academic transcript, and a 300 word essay outlining goals, academic achievement, and community service. Applicants need only to fill out one scholarship application form for any or all of the awards the Foundation offers. Contact the Financial Aid Office for more information and/or application. 

Houston National Association of Insurance Women (NAIW) ScholarshipScholarship for full-time undergraduate students attending the University of Houston enrolled in the Bauer College of Business. Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, show academic excellence and have financial need. Number of awards and award amount may vary. 

Jesse Gamez Endowed ScholarshipScholarship for Texas residents who are graduate students enrolled full-time at the St. Mary’s University Law School. Students must have a minimum 2.0 GPA. Deadlines and award amounts may vary. 

C. Jeff Piper Memorial ScholarshipScholarship for undergraduate juniors or seniors attending Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, majoring in Secondary Science. Due date, number of awards and award amount varies.
