The Higher Education Teaching Certificate (HETC)
The HETC will prepare students for teaching responsibilities they may undertake during and/or post-degree. It is intended to be an introduction to the teaching culture of higher education. It will also be useful for undergraduate students enrolled in Honours programs, and others for whom communication and presentation skills are important.

The Postgraduate Professional Skills Certificate provides students with professional and career development skills to complement their academic training. As students enter an increasingly competitive workforce, distinguishing oneself is the key to career opportunities in a workplace where employers are seeking high potential employees who fit their strategic plan. This program provides training in areas such as Project Management, Oral and Written Communication, Networking, Organizational Behaviour and Budgeting.

- Artificial Intelligence Post-Degree Diploma – Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics or related degree. Advanced programming knowledge is strongly recommended.

Applicants whose previous education was completed outside of Canada and where English may or may not have been the medium of instruction, must submit ONE of the following English language proficiency measures:
- Duolingo English Test with a minimum test score of 120, with at least a Production score of 100*
- IELTS Acacdemic– A minimum overall academic band score of 6.5 and a minimum score of 6.0 for the writing and reading categories*.
- TOEFL (paper based) – A minimum score of 550 with no less than 50 in each component.
- TOEFL (internet based) – A minimum score of 86 with no less than 19 in each component (internet-based)*.
- TOEFT MyBestScore may be considered with a minimum score of 20 on each individual components.
- Heartland International English School’s Pathway Program who have successfully completed Advanced 3 (Level 5), with 80%, as meeting the English requirement.
- International Language Academy of Canada (ILAC) English Pathway Program achieving a minimum score of 3.3.
- Three years of full-time education in English at secondary (high school) or post-secondary (university or college) levels in Canada or English Exempt Country.
- At least five credits at the Grade 12 level from a Canadian curriculum, including one credit of 40S English with a minimum average grade of 75%. *
- Achieved a minimum grade of four (B) on the International Baccalaureate Higher Level English course, or a minimum grade of three (B) on the Advanced Placement English examination (Language Composition; Literature and Composition).
- Applicants taking the English Language requirement from UWinnipeg ELP must achieve a minimum of “B” in the following courses:
- (Full-time) Academic Level 5 – Students must complete Academic Level 5 and Introduction to Business
- or
- (Part-time) Academic Writing II and Academic Learning & Speaking
- (Full-time) Academic Level 5 – Students must complete Academic Level 5 and Introduction to Business
*Admission into the Public Relations & Strategic Communication Diploma requires:
- TOEFL (internet-based) – A minimum overall score of 94 in the TOEFL (internet-based) with at least 25 in the TOEFL Writing category.
- IELTS Academic – An overall academic IELTS score of 7.0 with a minimum score of 6.5 in the academic IELTS Reading and Writing categories.
- Duolingo – A minimum test score of 125, with at least a Production score of 105

Students applying to The University of Winnipeg PACE during the COVID-19 crisis, may use the following testing options to meet their English language requirements for applications to our programs:
- Duolingo English Test with a minimum test score of 120, with at least a Production score of 100*
- IELTS – A minimum overall academic band score of 6.5 and a minimum score of 6.0 for the writing and reading categories*
- TOEFL (paper based) – A minimum score of 550 with no less than 50 in each component
- TOEFL (internet based) – A minimum score of 80 with no less than 19 in each component (internet-based)*

- CANTEST – A minimum score of 4.5 in the listening, writing and reading categories

- Graduation from a Canadian curriculum high school outside of Canada with at least one Grade 12 English with a minimum grade of 70% (students taking a New Brunswick curriculum are not included. You must present an IELTS test)
- Heartland International English School’s Pathway Program who have successfully completed Advanced 2 (Level 5), with 80%, as meeting the English requirement.
