University of San Diego/Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science is located in San Diego, CA, in an urban setting. The University of California, San Diego (UC San Diego or, colloquially, UCSD[a]) is a public land-grant research university in San Diego, California. Established in 1960 near the pre-existing Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego is the southernmost of the ten campuses of the University of California, and offers over 200 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, enrolling 31,842 undergraduate and 8,631 graduate students. The university occupies 2,178 acres (881 ha) near the coast of the Pacific Ocean, with the main campus resting on approximately 1,152 acres (466 ha). UC San Diego is ranked among the best universities in the world by major college and university rankings.
UC San Diego Health is the academic health system of the University of California, San Diego in San Diego, California. It is the only academic health system serving San Diego and has one of only two adult Level I trauma centers in the region. In operation since 1966, it comprises the UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest as well as the; Jacobs Medical Center; Moores Cancer Center; Shiley Eye Institute; Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center, and Koman Family Outpatient Pavilion, all in La Jolla. It also includes several outpatient sites located throughout San Diego County. The health system works closely with the university’s School of Medicine and Skaggs School of Pharmacy to provide training to medical and pharmacy students and advanced clinical care to patients.
It is the official health system of the San Diego Padres and UC San Diego Tritons.

UCSD Nursing Regional Affiliations
UC San Diego Health shares doctors and care providers with two other hospital systems in the region. In 2015, it entered a long-term management agreement with El Centro Regional Medical Center in El Centro, the county seat of Imperial Valley. Under the terms of this agreement, ECRMC patients have access to specialized facilities operated by UC San Diego Health in the city. Doctors also have access to training and continuing medical education through UC San Diego School of Medicine, and UC administrators will continually monitor the operational needs of the remote medical center. UC San Diego Health participates in a similar program with the Tri-City Medical Center community hospital in Oceanside. The partnership is expected to help Tri-City improve patient outcomes and reduce its readmission rate.
Research affiliations of the health system include external physicians and researchers connected through the aforementioned Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute. In addition, UC San Diego scientists are affiliated with the CIRM-funded Sanford Consortium for Regenerative Medicine. The Sanford Consortium is a stem cell research partnership between UC San Diego, the Salk Institute, the Scripps Research Institute, the La Jolla Institute for Allergy and Immunology, Takeda Pharmaceutical and the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute. It is housed in a building adjacent to Salk, UC San Diego, and the Torrey Pines Gliderport and performs basic and preclinical stem cell and regenerative medicine research.
Non-medical affiliations of the health system include the San Diego Padres and the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System. In 2015, UC San Diego Health spent $30 million for a 30-year naming rights deal to the Blue Line operated by San Diego Trolley, Inc. The deal changes the line’s name to the UC San Diego Blue Line and grants UCSD the right to wrap three trolleys with advertising. It also changes three station names in the future: the planned Voigt Drive station near Jacobs Medical Center will be called UC San Diego East, the planned Pepper Canyon station will be called UC San Diego West, and the opening of the Mid-Coast Extension will change Old Town Transit Center to Old Town UC San Diego Health South (to denote its shuttle connection to the nearby Hillcrest hospital).

Accelerated MSN
The University of San Diego Master of Science emphasizes advanced focus in nursing in theory, practice and research.
The faculty of the USD nursing program work to maintain strong research program allowing the school to be awarded the largest research grant in the history of the University. The Nursing Clinical Simulation Laboratory is the only one of its kind in the state of California allowing students to experience expert clinical practice utilizing cutting edge technology.
The program offers seven areas of emphasis Adult-Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist, Dual Adult-Gerontology Nurse, Executive Nurse Leader, Clinical Nurse Leader, Practitioner/Family Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Practitioner/ Family Nurse Practitioner, Dual Pediatric and Family/Lifespan, Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Health Care Informatics.
Three MSN options are also offered in Mind-Body-Spirit Health Care option, the Latino Health Care Option and Nursing Education.
The post BSN DNP program is also offered for Registered Nurses who are interested in preparing for primary care. The program is a 3 year full time program with part time study options available.
The curriculum ranges from 78 semester credits to 91 semester credits depending upon the concentration of study and prior courses taken.
Students who complete the program will be eligible to apply for national board certification.
The School of Nursing and Health Science accepts students to the Master of Science in Nursing Program for enrollment in the both the spring and fall semesters.
MSN
The University of San Diego Master of Science in Nursing, program is intended for students who possess a baccalaureate degree in nursing. The curriculum for the MSN program focuses on theory, practice and research.
The MSN program offers a range of options including Health Care Informatics, Executive Nurse Leader, Adult Gerontology Clinical Nurse Specialist, Family Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Nurse Leader, Dual Pediatric Nurse Practitioner/Family Nurse Practitioner, Dual Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner/Family Nurse Practitioner, Family/Lifespan Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and Dual Pediatric Nurse Practitioner/Family Nurse Practitioner.
The program requires core courses for all specialties designed to prepare students in their area. The program consists of 78-91 semester credits adding up to three years of full time study with part time study options available as necessary. The program is a campus based program with classes offered one or two days a week. Clinical experiences are tailored to the specific needs of the various options.
Students who successfully graduate from the program will be eligible for national board certification.
