What Requirements Do I Need?

To qualify of a masters degree program in computer science, you must have the following;

  • Minimum of 3.0 GPA with 30 graduate credit hours, including 6 credit hours of thesis. 

18 credit hours of the courses applied to the degree must be from the Department of Computer Science.
At least 24 hours must be from the College of Computing and Informatics. 
At least 15 credit hours must be at the 6000-level or above courses. 
Not more than 6 credit hours may be in Individual Study.
A maximum of 6 credit hours of graduate credit may be transferred from other graduate degree programs.

  • You must have knowledge of programming languages, data structures, and algorithms, operating systems, or computer architecture. 
  • Have a bachelorโ€™s degree in computer science.
  • Have an undergraduate grade point average of (or equivalent to) at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 point scale) and a Junior/Senior GPA of at least 3.0.
  • Good in calculus, discrete mathematics, and linear algebra.

CyberCorps: Scholarship for Service Program

This program has awarded nearly 100 full scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students interested in pursuing careers in information security in the public sector.

Each awardee will earn a Bachelorโ€™s degree in Software and Information Systems or Computer Science, as well as a Masterโ€™s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science.

Each scholarship recipient must be able to complete his or her academic program in no more than two years (for Ph.D. students, the degree must be completed in three years). Rising juniors and seniors may pursue the M.S. degree as undergraduates or via the early entry accelerated track.
