The English-taught Master of Science ‚Sports, Exercise and Human Performance‘ represents a highly specialized masters degree focussing on research. In particular the study program is characterized by its alignment on scientific methods as well as its strong direction into internationally used standards and the imparting of field-typical ‚soft-skills‘ without implicating any sport specific practices. The study program aims to enable students to work in research-based occupational areas, and to make decisions in generating knowledge, diagnostics, planning and evaluating independently.
Department of Philology
The Master of Arts in British, American and Postcolonial Studies has restricted enrolment which only occurs in the winter semester. Within the course’s modular structure students each have the opportunity to specialize in a certain field.
Department of Philology
Because the Masters Course in National and Transnational Studies is focused particularly on Anglophile literature and culture, most of the teaching is done in the English Department. However, students also have the opportunity to integrate interdisciplinary components into their studies. These can include, for example, other languages, history, social sciences or ethnology.
Social Anthropology is the science of cultural identities and differences. It aims to observe, analyse and interpret domains of social action that reflect cultural characteristics in a theoretically grounded and methodically consistent manner. Comparison of societies provides the basic theoretical perspective and informs the analytical and methodological approaches. Social-anthropological knowledge and competence enable one to interact in these domains of action in a scientifically valid, socially relevant and ethically responsible manner. This aim of this programme is to apply and further develop specific theories and current research issues in Social Anthropology through an empirical research project.
