Costs and Budgets

Direct charges for tuition, fees, housing (University-owned) and meal plan rates are set on an annual basis by the University. Variable expenses such as books, supplies, and personal spending allowances are set by the Office of Financial Aid and are based on average student expenses and federal guidelines.

The annual student expense budget, which can be viewed onย Porches, reflects average cost of attendance figures and determines the maximum amount of financial aid that a student can receive.ย ย Included in these budgets are commonly accepted educational expense allowances for items such as tuition, fees, books, supplies and personal spending in accordance with federal regulations.ย  Generally, students eligibility is determinedย over a standard academic year (fall/spring). If you plan to attend classes during the summer term as well, please contact our office.ย

You will automatically be considered for a merit scholarship as part of the admission process. Merit scholarships are awarded based on a variety of criteria including GPA, test scores (if submitted) and academic rigor. The University of Dayton is moving to test-optional admission for the fall 2021 entering class and beyond. We are committed to making scholarship opportunities available for all accepted students, and an applicantโ€™s scholarship eligibility will not be negatively impacted by a test-optional application. Students who choose to submit or resubmit test scores must do so by February 15.

These scholarship ranges are four-year amounts that include eligibility for our textbook scholarship. These amounts apply to full-time degree programs over 8 semesters at UD. Scholarship ranges differ for partnership programs, like the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, or degree programs that are less than 8 semesters.

Scholarship awards are renewable as long as you meet academic requirements each year. Also, you’ll need to notify Flyer Student Services of any external scholarships you receive. Such awards are counted as a resource and may reduce your eligibility for other need-based aid.
