The University of Debrecen Medical School Scholarships are available for international students who are interested in pursuing a degree in medicine. These scholarships are awarded based on merit, and applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 to be considered for the scholarship. The amount of the scholarship varies depending on your country of residence and the tuition cost in your country. You may also be required to take the TOEFL exam if you have been educated outside of Europe or North America. The deadline for submitting your application is March 15th, 2020.

How to Apply for the Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship Programme?
- Before submitting your application, please read the current Call for Application carefully (stipendiumhungaricum.hu),
- In case you are interested contact the sending partner in your country;
- With the help of the application guide submit all the necessary application documents to the online application system of Tempus Public Foundation (TPF). The application platform will be open from November 2021.
- Select the University of Debrecen
- You are entitled to apply for two programmes.

The Hungarian government provides the Stipendium Hungaricum academic scholarship for international students.
Stipendium Hungaricum full scholarship includes:
- Free tuition for the entire duration of studies.
- Monthly grant for students of Bachelor, Master or PhD program.
- Contribution to accommodation
- Free medical insurance for the entire duration of a BSc, MSc or PhD program.

Selection procedure:
First step: nomination of Sending Partner:
The Sending Partner pre-selects the submitted applications and sends a nomination and a reserve list to TPF.
Second step: the institutional evaluation:
- Tempus forwards the nominated applications to the University of Debrecen
- The University of Debrecen conducts the formal check and informs the formally correct applicants about the details (date and method) of the entrance exam/interview.
- The university forwards the result of the entrance procedure to TPF.
Third step: decision about the scholarship:
The Board of Trustees of TPF awards the scholarship and informs the applicants about the result.

How can students apply for an academic scholarship at UD?
Medical students:
University students โ except for Stipendium Hungaricum Scholarship and Scholarship for Christian Young People students โ in their second and upper years are eligible for a tuition fee reduction up to 20% of the full tuition fee should they fulfill the conditions stipulated in the Rules and Regulations, Appendix 5.
The Registrarโs Office will automatically forward the results of Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy students who achieved a stipend index of 4.50 or higher in the previous semester to the Education Center. Students of the Public Health Faculty need to submit a request for tuition fee reduction in case their stipend index meets the mentioned requirements.
It is the studentโs responsibility to check the grade average of his/her closed semester before the registration period.
Non-medical students:
From the 2nd year of their full degree studies onward, registered full time students who achieved a 4.0 grade average or higher in each of the previous consecutive 2 semesters may submit an application for tuition fee reduction. Please note that the ‘SCHOLARSHIP INDEX’ will be taken into consideration to calculate the results of grade average.
Up to 20% tuition fee reduction can be granted for a given semester to a maximum of 20% of eligible students in each semester. International Foundation Year, Basic Medicine Course and PhD students are not entitled to a reduced tuition fee.

The University of Debrecen is a public university in Hungary and was founded in 1635. The university has 8 faculties, 27,000 students and 3,000 employees. It is the second largest university in Hungary and one of the largest research organizations in the country.
The University of Debrecen offers academic scholarships to international students who wish to study at the university. The scholarship covers tuition fees and living expenses for all students enrolled full-time at the university.

Be accepted as a full-time student by the University of Debrecen
Have completed high school or an equivalent qualification
