All international applicants are required to submt their post-secondary/university academic credentials for an academic evaluation by one of the two third-party evaluators listed on the official university website. Applicants can choose either Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) or Josef Silney& Associates (JS&A).
Applicants need to provide the following if they have completed their previous studies from and institute outside the US:
- Scanned copies of all previous degrees/ certificates/diploma.
- Original transcripts
- Scores of required standardized tests for US
- Course-by-course evaluation(by a third party evaluator)
- Resume/Activities and awards list
- Proof of sufficient funds to cover expenses (Financial certification)
Supporting international documents may not be necessarily used while submitting applications but are required once the student has been admitted to the university.
University of Maryland English Language Proficiency Requirement
International students from non- native English speaking countries should fulfill English proficiency requirements. Starting with Fall 2020 admissions, new iBT TOEFL scores will be required.

All testing scores should be sent directly from the testing agency. TOEFL superscores are no longer accepted. Proficiency test scores must be less than two years old from the date of test.
