The University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP or UNC Pembroke) is a public university in Pembroke, North Carolina. UNC Pembroke is a master’s level degree-granting university and part of the University of North Carolina system. Its history is intertwined with that of the Lumbee nation.
Organization
The title of Principal or Superintendent was used prior to 1940. After 1940, when UNC Pembroke became a collegiate-level institution, the title of President was used. Upon becoming a member institution of the University of North Carolina system, the title was changed to Chancellor.

Students and faculty
UNCP offers small class sizes; the student-to-faculty ratio is 18:1, and classes average 20 students.[2] In addition, classes are taught exclusively by professors, instructors, or other faculty. There are no classes on campus taught by graduate assistants. This is where the university’s motto “Where learning gets personal” comes from.[18] The school has an enrollment of 8,262 students; of these, 6,436 students are undergraduate, and 1,826 are graduate students.[2]

The North Carolina Promise Tuition Plan is a program of the State of North Carolina established with the intent of increasing access to a quality university education through the University of North Carolina system. UNC Pembroke is among three UNC system schools to offer reduced tuition for undergraduate students. Beginning Fall 2018, UNCPโs in-state tuition will be reduced to $1000 a year and out-of-state tuition to $5,000 a year for undergraduate students.*
