The University of Washington International Dentist DDS Program (UWIDDS) offers qualified graduates of foreign dental programs the opportunity to earn the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at the University of Washington School of Dentistry. Successful completion of a pre-clinical qualification course and the advanced standing placement DDS program will allow graduates to take state or region board examinations to be eligible for dental licensure and dental practice within the United States.

The University of Washington School of Dentistry is consistently ranked in the top 30 dental schools in the country. In fact, students graduate from the UW School of Dentistry feeling ready to take on the world. The proof is in the admission statistics: In 2015, overall acceptance rate for incoming freshmen was 24 percent. For out-of-state students applying for a dental degree, the acceptance rate was just 3 percent—and all in all, there were more than 700 applications received in recent years. The 2015 class includes a diverse group, with 28 percent in the military and 5 international students representing 6 countries.

Advanced Dental Admission Test (ADAT)
- Completion of the ADAT is accepted, but not required for admission to the program.
Letter of Evaluation
- Program requests three Letters of Evaluation.
- Letters of evaluation must be submitted electronically through the ADEA CAAPID system, written in English, or translated by a bonafide U.S. translator if the letter(s) are written a language other than English.
- Letters of Evaluation must be current, on letterhead and signed. They should address the following questions:
- How long have you known the applicant,
- In what capacity do you know the applicant,
- Your assessment of the applicant’s academic, professional and/or personal attributes.

- Meet our residency and citizenship requirements.
- Take the Dental Admission Test by the October 1 deadline (new deadline for 2020).

We do not select or give preference to a particular undergraduate major field; in fact, our Admissions Committee encourages diversity in majors. Courses in the social sciences and the humanities are also important and are reviewed by the Committee.
Although a majority of students have baccalaureate degrees, students with outstanding academic qualifications may be considered for admission after only three years.
