Country-Specific Requirements for Indian Students

Students must have passed Class 12 or Standard XII Board Examination from the CBSE, CISCE, or Individual State Boards. For admission, final Grade XI and Grade XII mark sheets will be required.

With the submission of these mark sheets, students must indicate the courses they are currently studying as well as the grades achieved in in-progress or mid-term subjects. The university encourages Indian students to upload an admit card copy on the official website itself.

Yes, there is an application fee at Ontario Tech. The application fee is different for the 101 Secondary schools and the 105 Non-Secondary schools. For 101 Secondary Schools, it is CAD 120. For 105 Non-Secondary Schools, it is CAD 125.

In the case of international students, the application fee for 101 Secondary Schools is CAD 130, and for 105 Non-Secondary Schools, it is CAD 135. 101 Secondary School applicants refer to the current Ontario high school students. In contrast, 105 Non-Secondary School applicants refer to those students who currently do not attend an Ontario high school.Q.

Is there any scholarship or financial aid available for international students?

Yes, Ontario Tech offers several scholarships to qualifying international students. The university grants two types of scholarships to international students – International Entrance Scholarship and In-course Scholarship.The university offers the following scholarships:

  • Global Leadership Award (International Entrance Scholarships): This scholarship or award is meant for international secondary school students who wish to pursue undergraduate programs. Furthermore, this scholarship is given when a student on a study permit who currently studies outside of Canada undertakes the course. This award is held in high esteem and recognizes international applicants with impressive leadership qualities and academic abilities. The value of this scholarship is CAD 72,000 (CAD 18,000 a year for four years).
  • Awards of Recognition (International Entrance Scholarships): These awards are for recent Canadian secondary school graduates. They recognize the academic accomplishments of such graduates. The amounts under this scholarship are awarded automatically based on a graduate’s six best courses of 4U/4M. There are three award categories – CAD 1,000 for 85 to 89.9%, CAD 4,000 for 95% or higher, CAD 2,000 for 90% to 94.9%.
  • Trustee’s Scholarship (Merit-Based) (In-course Scholarship): This scholarship recognizes the academic achievements of a candidate during undergraduate studies. The scholarship is awarded to those candidates who secure a minimum 3.7 GPA (on a 4.3 scale) during the previous year and wish to return to full-time studies. The amounts under this scholarship are: CAD 1,500 for 4.0+GPA and CAD 1,000 for 3.7-3.99 GPA.

International students can apply to various graduate and undergraduate programs offered by Ontario Tech through the dedicated online application portal, OUAC. The step-by-step process to apply is as follows:

Priority will be given to applications that are received by the application deadline for the program. Applications after that date will be considered on a case-by-case basis provided there is still space available. Applicants should contact the graduate program director to inquire whether there is still space in the program. Late applications are received online under the next available admission deadline and will be considered as late applications for the earlier deadline should they be identified as such by the graduate program director.

It is highly recommended that you start the application process well in advance of the deadline. An application will be considered incomplete if all supporting documents (including letters of recommendation) are not received by the deadlines listed below.

Scholarships for international students

You could be awarded a scholarship from the university based on academic achievement as well as personal excellence.

Eligibility requirements

All scholarships and awards are subject to the following conditions:

  • Values are subject to change without notice.
  • Entrance scholarships are available to students attending the university from secondary school within 18 months of graduation.
  • You have not previously attended a post-secondary institution.
  • You may not hold more than one scholarship simultaneously.
  • Summer school courses taken immediately prior to the start of the September term and any upgrading marks will not be included in grade calculations for awards.
  • You must be enrolled in a minimum 80 per cent course load (per term).
  • The university reserves the right to determine acceptable academic credentials, grades and prerequisite courses to be used for admissions and awards.
