University of The West of England International Student Admissions

The University accepts students from all over the world and is diverse in nature with students coming from more than 140 countries. The application process for international undergraduate students is similar to domestic students apart from certain additional requirements for international students.

Application Fee: 20 GBP for a single course, 25 GBP for multiple courses.

Basic Admission Requirements: The following requirements must be met by the candidate in order to be eligible for admission:

  • A complete application.
  • Proof of English language proficiency.
  • Official institutional transcripts of academic records.
  • A university honours degree in case of postgraduate applicants.
  • Proof of financial sufficiency
  • Copy of valid passport

Country Specific Requirements

IndiaFor entry into undergraduate courses the students must have received at least 65% i.e. grade C in at least 5 subjects in the 12th standard from the following boards CBSE/ICSE/ WBCHSE.
Students with lower grades may get admission in a foundation degree.
Entry requirements for postgraduate courses vary from institution to institution and have been determined by both the length of the degree and the section of university (as defined by the NOOSR list):
NOOSR Section 1 – 48% for a 3-4 year degree and 45% for a 5 year degree.
NOOSR Section 2 – 55% for all degrees.
NOOSR Section 3 – 60% for all degrees.
BangladeshFor entry in year one of Bachelor’s in the areas of Computing and Business, the students of Bangladesh must have a GPA of 4.6 or more in their HSC or above 60% or more in a Polytechnic Diploma.
Students of Bangladesh who want to study Law must have at least one A level.
For entry into year two of a Bachelor’s Degree, the students must have achieved a GPA of 2.7 or more in a Bachelor’s of Arts/ Science/ Commerce.
In order to get admitted in the postgraduate courses, the students must have a GPA of 2.7 or more from a top university or 55% in Masters of Arts/ Science/ Commerce or Engineering.
Sri LankaA student will be considered for the undergraduate course at the University if he/she has a Sri Lankan A-Level because Sri Lankan A-Levels are accepted as comparable to UK A-Levels.
For admission to postgraduate courses, the students will get a direct admission if they hold a good bachelor’s degree or a four-year degree from a recognised university in Sri Lanka.
MyanmarFor admission into undergraduate courses, the students must have an HNC, level 4 (NCC) or ABE level Diploma.
Students who have completed 4 year Bachelor’s Degree with a grade of C+ and above or an ABE level 7 Diploma will be considered for postgraduate study.
NepalStudents with Higher Secondary School Certificate with 75% marks are eligible for admission into undergraduate courses.
Students who are awarded a first division bachelor’s degree from a recognized university are considered for a postgraduate degree.

Note: The requirements given above are the minimum requirements for the University but the competitive courses may have higher requirements.

English Proficiency Test Score for International Students

Candidates coming from countries where English is not the official language must demonstrate proof of English language proficiency in order to be eligible for admission. This requirement can be met by submitting one of the following test scores:

Visa Process for International Students

Applicants can start applying for a visa to study in the UK three months prior to the classes. A tier 4 student visa is required to study as a full-time student at an institution in the UK. The following documents must be arranged for submission during the process:

  1. A copy of valid passport.
  2. Two passport size photographs.
  3. Biometric information as a part of the application process.
  4. Evidence of sufficient funding.
  5. Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) statement.
  6. Police registration certificate.
  7. Only Tier 4 (General) visa students undertaking postgraduate level study in certain areas will need an ATAS certificate.
  8. Medical certificate

The following steps must be followed in order to obtain a visa:

  • The online application for Tier 4 student visa must be filled and submitted with an application fee of 348 EUR.
  • Upon approval, the candidate will be called to the nearest visa application centre for collection of biometrics and photographs as proof of residence permit;
  • The applicant must collect the same biometric residence permit within 10 days of arriving at the UK;
  • The visa takes approximately three weeks to reach the applicant, if all criteria has been appropriately fulfilled.

The University of West of England has laid down all admission requirements and parameters briefly on the website. The university takes approximately 4-6 weeks to evaluate the application after submission of the application, supporting documents and handling fees. The selection board will evaluate the application on a flexible parameter that includes academic records, extracurricular activities, quality of letters of recommendation and letter of motivation along with scores on the standardized tests taken before the admission. To increase chances of securing a seat at the university, the candidate must ensure submission of documents on time and following all mentioned instructions.

After submission of the application form and handling fees, the applicants can check the status at ‘UWE Bristol Welcome Website’ or the UCAS track which is an online portal. This portal can be accessed through the unique credentials provided to the applicant. If the candidate has been selected for admission to the university, they will be informed via e-mail and post.
