Computer Science MSc and PhD applicants don’t need a supervisor to apply for admission. However, you should list potential supervisors in your application. Supervisors make the final decisions on admission for eligible applicants.

MADS applicants don’t need to find a supervisor. We’ll assign a supervisor based on availability and area of research.

Funding & aid

Graduate students registered in full-time programs are automatically considered for a fellowship. This is based on a qualifying GPA.

UVic Fellowship Awards

  • Up to $13,500 per year (master’s)
  • Up to $15,000 per year (PhD)

UVic Graduate Awards

  • Up to $10,000 per year (master’s and PhD)

Domestic and international application deadlines are:

MEng Applied Data Science

  • September entry: June 1

MSc and PhD Computer Science

  • September entry: December 15
  • January entry: June 15
  • May entry: October 15

Applications may be submitted before deadlines as indicated. Admission to the graduate program is dependent on an individual supervisor selecting an applicant and making an offer of admission.

International students should submit their online application plus supporting documents well in advance of posted deadlines.
