At UC Davis, you apply to a major. If you’re accepted, we’ll place you in the corresponding college. The only exception to this is that if you decide to enroll as “undeclared.” UC Davis will then ask you to select a college.

If your GPA is below the required 2.4 GPA for admission, we will not offer admission for that major. For example, if your GPA is below 2.4 but above 2.2, then you may be admitted into an undeclared major or another major with lower requirements than your first choice major. You can also apply as an “undeclared” student and enter any of our eight undergraduate colleges and programs once you arrive on campus (students who were admitted as “undeclared” prior to 2018 are not eligible for the University Honors Program).

However, UC Davis, like all of the University of California schools, has holistic admissions and is test-optional, so the admissions officers are evaluating students on more than numerical data.

UC Irvine Acceptance Rate By Major

For undergraduates, the student to faculty ratio is about 20 to 1. About 36% of classes have less than 20 students in them. There are more than 100 undergraduate majors to choose from. Some of the most popular majors are social sciences; biological/life sciences; engineering; agriculture; and visual and performing arts. Outside of the classroom, UC Davis students can participate in more than 500 organizations and clubs on campus. More than 75% of students are involved in at least one student-run group.

There is an active Greek life with about 72 fraternity and sorority chapters. (Around 8% of students are affiliated with a Greek chapter.)
