The Master of Business Analytics is a one-of-a-kind transdisciplinary business analytics program. The Master of Business Analytics is a unique transdisciplinary program of study in business analytics. The Master of Business Analytics (online) is tailored to professionals who want to build their business acumen and data skills to meet the growing industry demand. How does it work?
All students in the Master of Business Analytics complete an introductory subject, Foundations of Business Analytics, and a Programming Languages stream consisting of three subjects, that gives you a working knowledge of SAS, R and Python. These four introductory subjects total 12 credit points.
The three studios run throughout your studies, forming the backbone of the program, and make up a total of 24 credit points, or a third of the Master of Business Analytics.
If you have a business, commerce or similar prior degree, you will assigned to the Foundation in IT stream, consisting of two 6-credit-point subjects: Database Principles, and Enabling Enterprise Information Systems.
Alternatively, if your degree was in IT, computer science or similar, you will be assigned to the Foundation in Business stream, consisting of four 3-credit-point subjects: Delivering Customer Value; Accounting Practices and Tools; Applied Financial Management; and Sustainable Enterprise in Dynamic Systems. From there, you are free to choose your specialisation stream(s), normally consisting of 12 credit points each. Specialisation stream options include:

What you will study
When studying the Master of Business Analytics course, each of the 12 study periods contains subjects that total six credit points. Some study periods are made up of a combination of two, three credit point subjects, while others are one subject worth six credit points.

The Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics (business stream) is designed for those who have a background in IT, engineering, information science or analytics and want to build business acumen.

Entry requirements
To gain entry into the Master of Business Analytics, applicants must have completed a UTS recognised bachelor’s degree in a related field within the business or information technology discipline that demonstrates potential to pursue graduate studies.
Note: Applicants who do not meet the entry requirements for the Masters may use the successful completion of the Graduate Certificate as a pathway, provided they meet the specific entry requirements for the Graduate Certificate of Business Analytics.
Career Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the Master of Business Analytics, graduates will have a broad scope of job roles available to them. According to the International Institute of Business Analysis¹, the top five industries where business analytics professionals work are: information technology, finance/insurance, government and public sector, business/professional consulting, and health and social services. Average Graduate Starting Salary
According to Job Outlook², the role of a business analyst has very strong future growth prospects and is demanding salaries of an average of $120,000. For this salary the skill level requires five or more years of training or experience with a bachelor’s degree or higher.
According to the IAPA 2017 Skills Salary Survey, those with advanced technical skills, such as R, which is taught in this course, can command salaries $30-$45k above the median.
