The Danish Government Scholarships for foreign nationals under the Cultural Agreements
Scholarships are available for master’s and PhD level students as part of the Cultural Agreements with the following countries: China, Japan, Israel, Egypt, Russia and South Korea. Applicants have to be enrolled in full-degree studies at higher educational institutions in the countries listed on the website and be interested in studying Danish language and culture or other field of studies related to Denmark.
Global Study Award Scholarship
The Global Study Awards encourages young people to study abroad. The maximum individual value of the grant is approximately £10,000 to cover tuition fees at the chosen university. If the fees are below the maximum individual Award grant, the scholarship can be allocated towards living expenses for up to 52 weeks from the registration of studies.
The Gen Foundation
Financial support for students interested in pursuing master level studies in the areas of natural science, in particular food science/technology. The amount of each grant is based on the merit of the application. Grants awarded during the previous years were approximately between £500 – £5,000.
Educations.com Scholarship for Globally-Minded Leader
educations.com is offering a €5000 scholarship to one ambitious Master’s student studying abroad in Europe in the fall of 2020. The scholarship will be awarded to an outstanding leader that is motivated to positively change the world.
Country-specific scholarships
Australia
John Monash Foundation
Financial support available to students with an undergraduate degree from an Australian University, who are keen to pursue a postgraduate degree from a leading and highly ranked university across the world. The value of the previous scholarships were approximately between AUD $65,000 per year up-to AUD $195,000 for a total period of three years.
Colombia
COLFUTURO
COLFUTURO offers each student up to $25,000 per year for a maximum period of 2 years. An important criteria in the selection process is the desire to return to Colombia and work in the country from 3 to 5 years. The selection process is primarily based on: academic grades of students, the quality of the study program applied for and the overall level of the other applicants.
Egypt
Qalaa Holdings Scholarship Foundation
The scholarships are divided into two schemes: the full scholarship covering tuition fee and living expenses, and the partial scholarship covering tuition fee only. The maximum annual amount granted is 50,000 USD. After completion of studies, graduates have to return to Egypt for at least two years.
India
Ravi Sankaran Fellowship Program
Financial support for exceptionally talented citizens of India in the field of ecology or conservation. It applies towards MSc studies and internships. Funding provided is: a stipend, internship fees (if applicable) and to-and-fro international travel (with a maximum of USD 1,500 towards travel expenses).
Indonesia
Beasiwa Pendidikan Indonesia (BPI) Scholarship
Scholarship program for Indonesian citizens funded by the Indonesian government and intended for master’s and Doctoral studies in the field of: engineering, science, agriculture, maritime affairs and fisheries, medicine, health, food security, transportation and technology. Scholarships cover admission fees, tuition fees, visa, living expenses and other related expenses.
Thesis and Dissertation Scholarship
Indonesian Education Scholarship (BPI) programme for thesis is intended for MSc and PhD students with limited funding to complete their thesis. This is applicable for students studying in Indonesia or abroad.
The MCIT/Beasiswa Kemkoinfo scholarship
The scholarship is funded by the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Informatics to pursue a master’s degree overseas in the field of: business administration and management, engineering, law, mathematics, computer sciences, transport and communication. The grant can cover tuition fees, monthly living allowance, first settlement cost, visa cost, economy class flight ticket and insurance.

Kazakhstan
Bolashak International Scholarship
The Centre for International Programmes under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan recognises DTU amongst the top 207 recognised universities, where Kazakhstani citizens are eligible to pursue Masters, PhD degrees and internship under the Bolashak International Scholarship programme. The scholarship covers all expenses.
Mexico
FINEM
Financial support (loans) for students interested in studying abroad for a duration of 6 to 24 months. FINEM collaborates with several Mexican universities towards grant of these loans. Scholarship applies to applicants interested in pursuing BSc, MSc or PhD in the of fields of engineering, environmental sciences, mathematics and computer sciences, medical and health sciences, transportation and communication
BECAS MOB
Scholarships are awarded to Mexican citizens interested in pursuing a master’s degree at a university abroad. Scholarships are usually partial and complimentary and cover only the first year of study. These are awarded, based on need and merit. Interested applicants should be Mexican citizens, preferably single, qualified professionals with a minimum GPA of 8.5 and have at least two years of full-time work experience. The support constitutes of 70% grant and 30% loan (without interest). An important criteria is that the awardee has to return to Mexico within 5 years upon completion of studies.
CONACYT
Scholarships financed by the Mexican government for applicants who wish to apply or are currently students in top international universities, within areas of: natural sciences, engineering, environmental science, biotechnology, agricultural sciences, health sciences and energy. The amount is up to 300,000 pesos or equivalent for a maximum duration of 24 months in case of MSc, 36 – 48 months for Doctorate (all areas) and 60 months in case of BSc.
Russia
Global Education Program
Funding support offered by the government for graduate and postgraduate studies. After completion of the degree, awardees are expected to return to Russia and work for at least 3 years. Funding will cover tuition fees, travel expenses, medical insurance, accommodation, meals and academic literature. However, the total amount for one year of study should not exceed over 13,818,000 RUB.
Singapore
DUO Singapore
The scholarship is towards promoting an exchange programme between Europe and Asia (Korea, Singapore and Thailand). It is important that an applicant should be paired with another exchange student from the country they are applying to for studies. 30 European countries are part of this collaboration programme and Denmark is one among them. Besides other universities, it applies to National University of Singapore, Nanyang Technology University and Singapore Management University.
South Africa
FirstRand Laurie Dippenaar Scholarship
The scholarship is directed for South African citizens interested in pursuing postgraduate studies with a maximum amount of 630,000 ZAR per annum in any discipline at an international university. The factors taken under consideration in the selection process are: academic excellence, leadership ability, community involvement and potential to be a destiny changer. Before applying for the scholarship, it is important that applicants should be conditionally accepted by the international university.
Turkey
TEV – Garring Foundation’s Scholarships for Denmark
Scholarships are given to Turkish citizens with a bachelor’s degree from a Turkish university, interested in pursuing Master studies in Denmark in the fields of computer systems, electrical and electronic communications, marine and coastal engineering, petroleum engineering, wind energy engineering and biotechnology.
USA
Fulbright Scholarship
Applicants must be American citizens interested in pursuing a master’s degree or PhD for an entire academic year of study and/or research in Denmark. For full -time master’s students, the scholarship is granted for only the first year of a 2-year degree programme. Upon receipt of a Fulbright grant, students receive DKK 125,000/USD 18,000 and do not have to pay tuition fees during the granted year.
Fulbright-National Geographic Digital Storytelling Fellowship
A component of the Fullbright U.S. Student Program, the fellowship provides opportunities for U.S. citizens to participate in an academic year overseas. Applicants will be accepted within the following themes amongst others: innovation in areas of health, medicine, technology, energy, and economic development/prosperity.
American – Scandinavian Foundation (ASF) in New York City
Applicants must be United States citizens or permanent residents and finished their bachelor’s degree before starting projects in Nordic countries. ASF offers grants – up to $5,000 (three months duration) and fellowships -up to $23,000 (a year – long stay) to encourage applicants to pursue research, studies or a creative art project in one or more Scandinavian countries. The support covers project-related costs, tuition fees and material expenditures.
Other scholarships
The Aga Khan Foundation Scholarship
The Aga Khan Foundation provides scholarships for postgraduate studies to students with excellent academic performance from the following countries: Bangladesh, India, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar and Mozambique. Candidates are evaluated on the basis of excellent academic records, financial need and admission to a highly reputable university. Applicants are expected to have relevant work experience in their field of interest. Scholarships are awarded on a 50 per cent grant: 50 per cent loan basis. Although priority is given to MSc studies, it is also applicable for PhD studies.
Women Techmakers Scholars Program (formerly The Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship)
Dr. Anita Borg was a creator of the programme “50/50 by 2020” which is based on the prediction that women graduating from computing will be 50 per cent of the graduates by year 2020. The programme applies for female students interested in pursuing a bachelor’s, master’s or PhD programme within Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Informatics or a closely related technical field. Each recipient will receive €7,000 or equivalent.
Technical University Of Denmark Admission Requirements
Admission requirements
The admission requirements for the MSc programmes are described under the tabs for the individual study programmes.
To be admitted to an MSc programme at DTU, you must hold one of the following degrees:
Bachelor of Science in Engineering
Bachelor of Engineering
Bachelor of Natural Science.
From September 2017, no more than 10 years must have passed since the qualifying exam was taken.
All applicants who apply for admission to English taught MSc programmes are required to provide documentation of English language proficiency comparable with English B-level with a minimum grade of 3 from a Danish upper-secondary school. Bachelor of Science in Engineering students from DTU, entitled to admission to an MSc Engineering program at DTU, must document English B-level with a minimum grade of 2. Bachelors of Science in Engineering
Applicants from DTU are guaranteed admission to one of the MSc programmes to which their bachelor programme grants access, provided that they apply for admission within the deadlines that apply at the beginning of the next semester after completion of the bachelor programme at DTU.
In the ‘Career’ section under the description of the individual bachelor programmes at DTU, there is a list of the MSc programmes to which holders of a given bachelor degree from DTU are eligible for admission.
It is possible to apply for admission to MSc programmes other than the ones in natural extension of the acquired bachelor degree if the applicant meets the academic prerequisites for the study programme in question. The academic prerequisites are described in further detail under the individual MSc programmes.
Applicants from educational institutions other than DTU can also be admitted. Guidelines and examples, if any, can be found in the curriculum for each MSc programme under academic prerequisites.
Bachelors of Engineering (BEng)
Bachelors of Engineering are entitled to admission to MSc programme(s) which are a direct extension of their Bachelor of Engineering programme, provided that they meet the necessary academic prerequisites for admission to the MSc programme in question. Some MSc programmes require that applicants have completed a number of courses from the list of courses in the curriculum for the individual MSc programmes.
The curricula for the individual MSc programmes describe which Bachelor of Engineering programmes from DTU make the applicant eligible for admission to the MSc programme, and which prerequisites must be met.
Bachelors of Natural Science
Bachelors of Natural Science can apply for admission to a number of MSc programmes at DTU. The MSc programme curricula state which applicants are entitled to admission and on what conditions.
Conditional admission with regard to supplementary educational activities
Applicants with a relevant degree as Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Bachelor of Science, or Bachelor of Engineering who do not meet all the academic prerequisites for admission to the desired MSc programme can apply for conditional admission.
The lacking academic prerequisites may consist of a list of courses of up to 30 ECTS credits and must be passed prior to commencing the relevant MSc programme. It is a requirement that an application for admission has been submitted and that conditional admission has been granted, provided that the applicant passes the relevant courses. Applicants will then have one year to pass the courses, i.e. if an application is submitted for admission as of September 2017, the conditional admission will apply until September 2018.
Supplementary educational activities in connection with conditional admission to an MSc programme do not form part of the MSc programme, and tuition fees will be charged, see prices under single course studies. If the applicant does not pass the courses within the deadlines specified, the conditional admission to the programme is withdrawn.
