Radboud University Psychology Admission
Students with a Dutch degree
Any of the following Dutch educational qualifications allows for admission to both the English-taught track and the bilingual track:
A vwo diploma; all profiles (biology is recommended)
A Dutch hbo propaedeutic certificate (hbo-propedeuse) or hbo bachelor’s degree (hbo diploma), provided you meet the additional requirements set for English and Mathematics. The level of your previous education will be assessed on an individual basis. Additional conditions may apply, as stated in the additional hbo-p and hbo-bachelor admission requirements for the Bachelor’s programme in Psychology (pdf, 631 kB) (in Dutch). Should you require an additional English or mathematics certificate, then this should be sent in before 31 July 2021 (or before 31 August 2021 if you apply for a postponement). You will not be needing these certificates during your application in Studielink (deadline 15.01.2021), nor during the selection process.
If you do not meet the requirements above and are at least 21 years of age, you could take part in a colloquium doctum (entrance examination).
Please note: for our Psychology programme a selection procedure applies.
Extended enrolment deadline for hbo students
Are you a student at an hbo institution and are you unable to complete your enrolment? Normally, you can only complete your enrolment for this study programme as soon as the academic degree from your previous education has been registered. Given the current situation caused by the COVID-19 outbreak, we can imagine that you may not be able to graduate before our enrolment deadline, which is why we would like to give you additional time to complete your previous education. In order to do so, you can request what is called a finalisation advice from your hbo institution. In this written advice, your hbo institution can indicate that it is certain that you will complete your studies before 1 January 2022. You must submit this advice to the Psychology programme via admissionsocialsciences@ru.nl no later than 1 August 2021. Based on this advice, we will assess whether you are conditionally admissible. If so, you will be enrolled on the condition that you are to obtain your hbo propaedeutic’s certificate, or your hbo Bachelor’s degree before 1 January 2022. If you meet this requirement before the aforementioned deadline, your conditional enrolment will be converted into a final enrolment. Please note that if you are unable to meet this condition before the aforementioned deadline, you will not be allowed to continue your studies at Radboud University.
Questions?
If you have any questions about whether you can be admitted, please contact us via admissionsocialsciences@ru.nl and make sure to specify that you want to apply for the Bachelor’s programme in Psychology
Students with an international degree
If you have completed or will complete a study programme outside of the Netherlands, then your previous education will be assessed on an individual basis to determine whether it is of sufficient level. This will be done both by the Admissions Office and by the faculty. If the level is sufficient, you could be directly admissible or additional conditions may apply (such as taking an English or Mathematics test).
Please download and carefully consider the 2021-2022 Admission Requirements English-taught Bachelor’s Programme in Psychology (pdf, 751 kB) to check whether you can be admitted directly or additional conditions may apply. Please note: for this programme an additional requirement has been set for Mathematics. Furthermore, we also advise to take Biology as a course in your final examinations. If the above pdf document does not list your diploma, or if you are not sure about the requirements, you can do the Radboud Eligibility Check by clicking the button below. The Eligibility Check will give you an indication as to whether or not you are eligible for admission.

Should you require an additional English or mathematics certificate, then this should be sent in before 31 July 2021 (or before 31 August 2021 if you apply for a postponement). You will not be needing these certificates during your application in Studielink (deadline 15.01.2021), nor during the selection process.
Please note that non-EEA students* should send in additional mathematics- or English certificates (if applicable) before 1 June 2021 in view of their visa application. Just like EEA students, non-EEA students have until 31 July 2021 to send in their diploma (and they can also request for a postponement until 31 August 2021), unless they have already graduated. In that case, they have until 1 June 2021 to send in their diploma.
Students with a German Abitur applying for the Bilingual Psychology Programme, can consider the 2021-2022 German Admission Requirements Bilingual Psychology Programme (pdf, 712 kB). Alongside the Mathematics and English language requirements, they should also meet the Dutch language requirements.
What else?
You will be informed about the admission result within four weeks after the receipt of all required documents. Should you be admissible (possibly under the condition of sending in additional certificates later), then your application will be included in the selection procedure.
