Aalesund University College
Aalesund University College (Norwegian: Høgskolen i Ålesund) was a medium-sized institution of higher education in Norway with 2249 students and 224 employees.
AAUC was founded in 1994 as a result of the reorganisation of professional higher education in Norway. Three former colleges in Ålesund, the College of Marine Studies, the College of Engineering and Aalesund College of Nursing were then merged into one institution.
The college was divided into five faculties:

Step 1 : Find courses

• Check the box ‘taught in English’ and select the correct city under “Teaching location”.
• Courses listed for autumn 2017 will normally be available again autumn 2018.
• Bachelor courses are normally called “Foundation”, “Intermediate” or “Third-year” courses,
Master’s level courses are called “Second degree level” and PhD courses are called “Doctoral
degree level”. Some variations of these names may occur.
• Are you eligible? Check if the course requires previous knowledge, the language of
instruction, study level, ect.
• You can choose courses at different faculties/institutes.
• If a course is project based it can normally be supervised in English, even though the
language of instruction is Norwegian.
• You are not guaranteed entry to the courses you select. It is the faculty/institute that have
the final say in whether you get admission to a course.
Changing your courses
If the course you list is not offered or you are not eligible for admission, you will get the opportunity
to pick new courses after arrival at NTNU. Also, if you change your mind about the courses you would
like to take; it is usually not a problem to change your courses after arrival.
Step 2 : Apply online and upload required documentation
Instructions for how to apply online through the application portal Søknadsweb.
- Go to the application portal Søknadsweb.
- Select language in the top right corner where it says “Norsk bokmål”.
- Click on “International Applicant”.
- Click on “Register new international applicant”.
- Answer the questions. The answer to your question will in no way affect your application,
assuming you are considered eligible to apply. - On the question regarding financing, please note that all students who are non-European
citizens must have a way to finance their stay in order to receive a residence permit to
Norway. - You have now reached the actual application form. Please register as an applicant using your
full name as it is written in your passport, but note that you cannot use letters that are not in
the English alphabet. - You will receive your password by e-mail.
- Log on to Søknadsweb with your e-mail address and password, and fill in the application
details. - Choose ‘Select’ under ‘Exchange student’. Please note that selecting ‘Early admission’ will not
affect the processing time of your application. - In the ‘Extra information’ field please fill in the information below in the following order:
- Home institution
- Courses which you would like to apply to at NTNU. Fill in both the course code and
the name of the course. Use course search to find courses. If you wish to do a thesis
or project work, please indicate this. - Upload the documents listed in „required documents”.
Please note that there is no “submit button” in Søknadsweb.

diploma from bachelor degree studies) - Translation of grade transcripts if originally in another language than English

There are no formal language requirements for exchange students from EU countries at
NTNU, but we do expect that our incoming Erasmus students have a good command of the
English language that enables them to communicate well at an academic level. The level of
English proficiency should be at least B2, preferably C1, using the Common European
Framework of Reference for Languages scale. - A short CV

-Accommodation:
1) Housing in Trondheim :
In Trondheim, it is the Office of International Relations that is responsible for allocating student
housing to international students. Do not book a room before you have received an email with a
booking code from the Office of International Relations.
Normally, all students are allocated student housing in the spring semester. In the autumn semester,
some students will have to find private housing:
• Exchange students from non-EU/non-EEA countries, who applied within the deadline
(1 May/1 October), are guaranteed housing. Exchange students from EU/EEA are not
guaranteed housing.
Private housing:
Students who are not allocated student housing at SiT will have to find private accommodation on
their own. While finding a place to live can be a challenge at the start of the autumn
semester, especially for students who want to live centrally, all students eventually find somewhere
to live.
Temporary housing :
New students arriving in Trondheim in the autumn semester are guaranteed short term housing
through “Roof Over Your Head”. This provides you with an opportunity to search for private housing
after your arrival in Trondheim.
You may also find temporary housing at Trondheim Hostel (all year) and Singsaker Summer
Hostel (summer and early autumn).
