The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is not a part of every graduate application, but it’s a requirement for Arizona State University’s master’s program in Computer Science. If you’re looking to earn your MS in Computer Science from ASU, here are the requirements and average scores for the GRE.

Graduate Record Examination (GRE)

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is a standardized test that is used by universities around the world to compare applicants and determine admission. The GRE is often required for admission into Masterโ€™s programs, whether you are applying as an international student or a domestic student.

If you are considering going back to school and pursuing an MS in CS online at Arizona State University, there are some important details about this particular program that you should be aware of:

  • There is no GRE requirement for the MS in CS program offered through ASU Online. If you choose to apply, though, itโ€™s possible that other schools could ask for your score during their application process (see below).
  • If you do decide to take the GRE before applying (and if thereโ€™s not already one listed on your transcript), then keep in mind that test scores will expire after five years if they arenโ€™t sent directly from ETS back into UA transcripts before then! This means that even if UACCM receives them directly from ETS over this period of time without any problems whatsoeverโ€ฆwe won’t know because they’ll still show up as “expired” when entering them into our system unless we manually change them ourselves – which would take quite some effort considering how many students come through here each month! So please bear this factoid in mind when taking any tests like these; just remember: don’t wait until last minute!

GRE Score Requirements for ASU MS in CS

The GRE is a computer-based test that must be taken at designated testing centers. It is a standardized exam that measures your verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, analytical writing skills and mathematical knowledge. The Verbal Reasoning section contains multiple-choice questions on reading comprehension, vocabulary and sentence completion. The mathematical portion includes algebraic equations, data interpretation and geometry problems.

The minimum GRE score requirement for applicants to ASU MS in CS is 300 or above on both the quantitative reasoning (QR) and verbal reasoning (VR) sections of the exam. Additionally, you must earn a 4+ on the analytical writing (AW) section of the GRE to be considered for admission into this program.

GRE Scores for Top CS Colleges

If you want to study computer science in the United States, then youโ€™ll need to have a good GRE score.

The GRE is the most common admissions test used by top CS schools. It assesses your aptitude and skills to help determine if you are prepared for a graduate program in computer science.

You can choose from four standardized tests: Writing, Quantitative Reasoning, Reading Comprehension and Analytical Writing Assessment. The last two are optional; only Writing is required by every school. The other three comprise whatโ€™s known as the General Test section of the exam. You will be given roughly two hours for each section (30 minutes for each question).

The GRE is required for an ASU MS in Computer Science application.

In addition to the GRE, you will also need to submit a resume and writing sample. It’s important that your resume highlights your relevant education and work experience; if you’re not sure how to do this, check out our Resume Tips for Computer Science Majors post for more information.

In order to ensure that you are applying with appropriate qualifications, ASU requires all applicants to submit GRE scores from the past 5 years (from when you were last enrolled in undergraduate or graduate coursework). However, even if your last enrollment was longer than 5 years ago, it is still possible that they might request your GRE scores; this is why it’s best not to wait too long before taking the test.

Conclusion

GRE requirements are just one part of the application process. There are many other things to consider when applying for an MS in Computer Scienceโ€”and you don’t want your chances at ASU CS or another school ruined by a low GRE score! For instance, what is their acceptance rate? How long is their interview process? The bottom line: do your research before you jump into this decision.

Those seeking Arizona State University’s Master of Science in Computer Science (MSCS) are aware that there is a limited application period and limited number of spaces for this highly competitive program. The school normally receives an estimated 800 to 1200 applications for the small class sizes and admits on a rolling basis, so this competition is fierce and applicants need to be sufficiently prepared.

The GRE is a standardized test based on the verbal and quantitative sections of the GMAT. The GRE was first offered in 1926 by Educational Testing Service. In 1949, it became the Graduate Record Examinations (GRE) with the purpose of replacing teacher recommendation forms with standardized tests. The most stressful part of applying to graduate school is figuring out which graduate program you want to join, but thatโ€™s getting easier all the time. No matter where you plan to go or what type of program you want, understanding admissions requirements is important.  Many programs require applicants to submit GRE scores, so knowing which tests are accepted can help you prepare for their application.
