Carey Baptist College Scholarships

Carey has a number of scholarships and funds for domestic students studying in New Zealand. All are annual unless otherwise stated.

Scholarship award decisions will be made on the basis of a completed application or nomination by the Carey Scholarships Sub-Committee. Completing an application does not guarantee you will receive a scholarship.

Carey Scholarships

  • PL Accommodation Scholarship

This scholarship is available for Māori and Pasifika Students.

To be considered, applicants must have the potential to contribute to mission and ministry, potential to succeed academically, and be able to demonstrate financial hardship.

Other Church/Denominational Funding

A number of scholarships are available for Brethren students engaged in tertiary study. We strongly encourage you to check out the different options here.

In the past a number of Anglican students have been supported in their study by specific denominational funding. Some local churches also support individual students with their tuition fees.

Māori
  • Northern Baptist Association Scholarships – for more information please email nbassn@baptist.org.nz.
  • Wilberforce Scholarships – for more information please contact Carey.
  • The Māori Education Trust provides financial assistance for Māori students undertaking tertiary study.
  • The Sir Apirana Ngata Memorial Scholarship is for Māori students studying in any field in any tertiary education institution. Preference is given to descendents of Māori World War One veterans.
  • Ngārimu VC and 28th (Māori) Battalion Memorial Scholarships are offered to enterprising, innovative and influential Māori, who meet the criteria and possess characteristics that are identified as being consistent with those of the 28th Māori Battalion.
  • Ngai Tahu Scholarships are offered to Ngai Tahu to support their tribal vision: mō tātou, ā, mō kā uri ā muri ake nei.
Pasifika
  • Pacific Education Foundation scholarships

International
  • New Zealand Educated  provides scholarship information for both international and New Zealand students.
  • The New Zealand Aid Programme  provides support for citizens of some developing countries to undertake vocational training or tertiary level study in their home country, in New Zealand or in the Pacific region.
General
  • The Matt Alexander Scholarship, provided by the Longview Trust, assists suitable recipients from across the New Zealand church to undertake postgraduate theological study.
  • The David Bay Evangelism Scholarship, provided by the Hillview Trust, assists suitable recipients from across the New Zealand church with evangelistic gifts and abilities, to increase their fruitfulness through informal or undergraduate studies.

Step 1

Apply

Applications for current and future years are open and welcomed. Families are invited to complete our free secure registration form online.

Step 2

Interview

Families will be invited by email to attend an interview and tour with the Principal based on their original date of application. Siblings of existing Carey Harrisdale students will have first priority. Additional paperwork, such as birth certificate, school reports, and supporting documentation will be requested.

Step 3

Offer

Following a successful interview with the Principal, an Offer of Placement is made. Placement at Carey Baptist College is confirmed once all completed enrolment forms and a non-refundable confirmation fee have been returned to the College within the prescribed time frame.

Step 4

Confirmation

Upon receipt of the completed enrolment forms and confirmation fee, the College will confirm the placement in writing. To read more about our Enrolments Process, view our Enrolling at Carey document.
