Case Western Reserve University is located in Hudson, Ohio. The original school building, Western Reserve, was built in 1826. In 1877, Leonard Case Jr. created a secret trust to find a polytechnic school. This school would become the Case School of Applied Sciences, which merged with Western Reserve in 1885.
