Additionally, if you are a foreign citizen and cannot qualify for in-state tuition, these are the cheapest universities in Arizona for international students.
Affordable doesn’t simply mean finding a school with a low published out of state total cost. It’s important to research the typical financial aid package offered by a school, the average net price actually paid and most importantly the quality of education you receive for your tuition dollar. Sometimes a school which appears cheap based on list price can be a poor relative value if it can’t award competitive financial aid or doesn’t offer a quality education. The list below is a ranking on published out of state total cost with no consideration of actual average price paid or academic quality of the school. Please see the CollegeCalc best value colleges in Arizona list for a ranking which considers school quality and average net price.
Total cost may factor in an estimated off-campus living expense if a school doens’t provide housing. This estimate may vary widely by college. To view a rank by academic fees alone please see our Arizona tuition ranking.
The most affordable four year colleges in Arizona are listed by one year’s out of state total cost list price for the 2018/2019 school year. Total cost includes tuition, room and board or estimated off campus living expenses, books and supplies and other fees.
What is the cheapest college in Arizona? Leading the colleges list is Dine College in Tsaile with an out of state total cost of $7,750.
Academic Rating is a CollegeCalc rating of a college’s overall academics and effectiveness. The score ranges from zero to one hundred, with fifty being the median for all eligible colleges. Dollar value is a measure of a school’s academic rating compared with the average price paid by students. Colleges which are ranked “n/a” didn’t report sufficient data to formulate a score. All price data are reprinted from the U.S. Department of Education’s 2019/2020 IPEDS Survey and reflect reported costs for the 2019/2020 academic year..

University of hagen masters in english Although it might not be the first state that comes to mind when you think about high-quality colleges and universities, there are plenty of schools offering affordable bachelor’s degrees in Arizona that deserve consideration. From quirky independent institutions such as Prescott College to large research universities such as the University of Arizona, there is a school in this state for every interest area.
The Grand Canyon State is also highly ranked in terms of affordability; its University of Arizona and Arizona State University school systems are both recognized for their financial inclusivity and their low tuition rates. However, the following ranking involves more than simply listing schools according to the cost of attendance. We have compiled a list of the top bachelor’s degree colleges in Arizona that appeals to both the budget-conscious and the brainiac.
Methodology
Colleges and universities throughout Arizona offer degrees across all sectors and industries. Regardless of the area in which you intend to work, high-quality, affordable programs are available both on-campus and online. Since it can be time-consuming and overwhelming trying to compare and contrast prospective programs and schools, we decided to take it upon ourselves to do some of the hard work for you. We conducted a search for the term “colleges in Arizona” at the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) in order to get our initial list of institutions, and we analyzed the following 20 schools based on several factors such as tuition rates, graduation rates, and student-to-faculty ratios. In order to ensure we were providing the most accurate, up-to-date information possible, we cross-referenced the information with each school’s website.
AVERAGE COST OF ATTENDANCE
When comparing programs, consider whether the schools you have short-listed offer opportunities for hands-on learning through practicum experiences or internships, concentrations or specializations in an area in which you are interested, or other must-haves that you are looking for in an academic program. Although the tuition rate is probably the first factor you look at, also keep in mind the offerings and quality of the programs when making your decision. For the following article, we ranked the tuition based on the cost of one year of study for in-state students completing 15 hours of classes per semester. Out-of-state tuition rates are also provided for your reference.

STUDENT-TO-FACULTY RATIO
Consider your own personal priorities and academic background when looking at student-to-faculty ratios. In other words, are you looking for individual attention from faculty? Do you thrive in smaller settings in which you are held more accountable for your work? Do you value intimate relationships and experiences? Do you prefer to attend a school that offers student-run clubs and organizations, athletics, or job fairs? Although there are benefits to attending a large school, small schools may be more likely to offer smaller classes, one-on-one mentoring, and fewer students. Therefore, we awarded the most points to schools with the lowest ratios of one faculty member for every 10 or fewer students.
Points:
10:1 or less: 3 points
11:1 to 15:1: 2 points
Greater than 15:1: 1 point
GRADUATION RATE
Finally, when determining whether a school is a good fit and to gauge student satisfaction, we typically look at graduation rates. After all, the ultimate goal is to enroll at a school in order to take classes, finish the program, and earn a degree in your chosen field. While most prospective students look at admission rates to determine how selective a school is, it is just as important to determine how many students successfully graduate from each school before committing time and money to a particular program. In most cases, high graduation rates may indicate that the school offers helpful, experienced faculty members, affordable degrees and programs, and plenty of academic support. For this reason, we awarded schools the most points for the highest graduation rates.

Is a Bachelor’s Degree Important?
Earning an undergraduate degree can often lead to increased career opportunities as well as higher salaries, among other benefits. Although you may find a job in a trade such as cosmetology, auto mechanics, or construction without attaining a bachelor’s, most professions require at least a four-year degree. Therefore, earning a bachelor’s in any given field can significantly broaden your career possibilities, preparing you for roles that range from animator to zoologist.
There are hundreds of jobs, including kindergarten teacher, forensic science technician, biomedical engineer, and accountant that you can pursue immediately after graduation, or a bachelor’s degree can act as a stepping stone to a career that requires more experience without education such as information technology manager, financial manager, or chief executive officer. An undergraduate degree can also prepare students for graduate study; for instance, prospective surgeons and physicians are required to earn a bachelor’s degree before they apply to medical school.
In addition to boosting your career possibilities, a bachelor’s degree can also increase your salary earnings and reduce the likelihood of unemployment. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, those with an undergraduate degree reported a lower-than-average rate of unemployment (2.2 percent versus 3.2 percent for all education levels) and a higher-than-average median weekly salary ($1,198 versus $932 for all workers). The following table illustrates additional comparisons between degree options, unemployment rates, and anticipated weekly earnings as of March 2018.
Bachelor’s degree
– Unemployment rate: 2.2 percent
– Median weekly earnings: $1,198
Associate degree
– Unemployment rate: 2.8 percent
– Median weekly earnings: $862
Some college, no degree
– Unemployment rate: 3.7 percent
– Median weekly earnings: $802
High school diploma
– Unemployment rate: 4.1 percent
– Median weekly earnings: $730
Less than a high school diploma
– Unemployment rate: 5.6 percent
– Median weekly earnings: $553
Even in fields that do not require a minimum of a bachelor’s degree for entry-level employment, completing an undergraduate program could lead to increased responsibilities and, as a result, higher earnings. For instance, you may be able to become a veterinary technician with an associate degree, but earning a bachelor’s degree may allow you to become a technologist and gain additional responsibilities such as preparing tissue samples to be examined by the licensed veterinarian.
