Overview of Kent and Medway Medical School
Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) is a joint venture between the University of Kent and Canterbury Christ Church University. It is a newly-established partnership with the Undergraduate Medicine Program starting from 2020. Thus, students have access to facilities from both universities.
The University of Kent was established in 1965 and has over 19,000 students currently enrolled. It is located in a parkland overlooking the city and has students from over 158 nationalities.
Canterbury Christ Church University was established in 1962 and was granted university status in 2005. Currently, there are over 15,000 students enrolled and the main campus is located amidst the city-centre of Canterbury.
Both university campuses are located in Canterbury which is a historic, student city. The city has a range of historic locations (such as the oldest church in the country), a number of galleries, shops, and a range of nightlife options.
First-year students will have the opportunity to live on the University of Kent or Canterbury Christ Church University campus accommodation. Both campuses offer a range of accommodation options with varying prices and amenities.
- Accommodation at Canterbury Christ Church University: Accommodation at Canterbury has a range of Residence options, including:
- Petros Court: Newest accommodation at the University with rooms starting from 167 Euros per week. Rooms are ensuite and self-catered.
- Vernon Place: Located close to the city centre, rooms start from 118 Euros per week. each room is self-catered and has a shared bathroom and kitchen.
- Accommodation at the University of Kent: There are a range of Colleges where students can reside. These include:
- Keynes College: Ensuite rooms and are catered for meals. The College operates on a Bed and Bistro scheme whereby students can have breakfast and dinner at Dolche Vita Monday-Friday and at Rutherford Dining Halls on the weekend. Rooms cost an average of 7,000 Euros per annum.
- Rutherford College: Rooms have shared bathroom facilities and are partially-catered with Bed and Flex. Students are provided with an allowance of 10 Euros daily to purchase meals at 10 different catering venues around campus during the term. The average cost of a room is 5,500 Euros per annum.
- Darwin College: The College has shared bathrooms and kitchen and is mostly self-catered. It is a popular accommodation option for students due to its proximity to Bar and bistro, Origins. On average, room prices range from 4,600-5,400 Euros per annum.
- Medway: Medway accommodation at Liberty Quays is easily accessible and close to both universities. The accommodation has rooms starting from a weekly cost of 154 Euros for a single en-suite study bedroom. The rooms are self-catered and have a range of social facilities nearby. NOTE: The accommodation contract is with Liberty Living and not the universities.

Entry requirements
Academic Requirements:
ATAR:
- ATAR requirements have not been published on the Med School website.
GCSE:
- Students must obtain grades between A*/9 to B/6.
- English and Mathematics must be achieved at a minimum of grade B/ grade 6.
- Note: Students must be completing A Levels or IB equivalent
A-Levels:
- Must have a minimum grade of AAB; and
- GCSE 5 subjects at Grade A*/9 – B/6
IB (International Baccalaureate):
- Students must achieve a minimum of 34 points overall; and
- GCSE 5 subjects at Grade A*/9 – B/6
Pre-requisites
GCSE:
- Sit 5 subjects which include:
- English Language
- Mathematics
- Biology
- Chemistry
- Physics
- NOTE: Double science will be accepted as an alternative to the three separate sciences.
A-Level:
- Students must achieve A-levels in:

Entry Requirements:
UCAT:
- The Medical School has different UCAT thresholds for different groups. The 4 groups are divided by stage of education:
- Group A: Pre-A level/IB student with GCSEs
- Group B: Post A Level/IB or pre-graduate
- Group C: Post Bachelor’s degree
- Group D: Others including no school data; Scottish and international qualifications
Application Process:
- Apply through UCAS;
- Students must meet the minimum academic requirements;
- UCAT must be sat in the year of applying;
- Have a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service and Occupational Health Check;
- If selected, attend an interview.
Interview Criteria and structure:
Interviews will be conducted from January.
