School Selection Criteria
Many schools require a GPA of 3.0 or higher and undergraduate research experience for admission to a graduate program in process engineering. There are several factors to consider when choosing a process engineering school.
- Some programs are geared toward research, while others are professional master’s degrees that are industry-related. Students should review a program’s curriculum to ensure it covers their area of interest.
- The student should look at program attributes, such as the availability of research assistantships and the condition of facilities and equipment.
- Some schools require an undergraduate degree in a major such as chemical, biological or environmental engineering to qualify for a graduate program.
- If their interests don’t fit into an existing curriculum, students should look for a school that lets them create their own graduate course of study.
Master’s Degree in Environmental Process Engineering
Environmental process engineering programs study the contaminants that occur around us and their effect on our health and the natural environment. These programs focus on the chemical and biological processes that interact with contaminants in areas such as energy production and water purification.
Master’s Degree in Food Process Engineering
Individuals working in food process engineering programs look at ways to improve food items through production and engineering. A certain number of credit hours should be set aside for research in addition to general requirements coursework.
Process engineering is typically offered at the graduate level, although some institutions offer undergraduate degrees that have a major or concentration in process engineering. Since there are a number of institutions that offer relevant programs, students may want to consider accreditation, facilities, location and cost when choosing a program.Next: View SchoolsLink to this page
