How To Apply For The MKU Distance Learning Courses
To apply for a course, please download the application form or apply online or Collect forms from our ODEL centre at MKU campuses and ODEL centres or MKUR Kigali. Application should be accompanied by copies of relevant academic and professional certificates, and one passport size photo and a copy of National ID or a birth certificate.
Kenyan applicants part with application fee as follows;-
- Ksh. 1,000 (Certificates, Diplomas & Undergraduates programmes) Ksh. 2,000 (Post-Graduate programmes)
Non-Kenyan applicants;-
- US Dollars 50

All applications for admission are submitted to the Registrar-Academic Affairs. Statutory fees of Ksh. 12,000 payable once on registration. The university fees payment can also be done in easy instalments within the semesters as follows: 50% upon registration, 50%- second & final instalment. Fees are payable either per semester, trimester or annually in the bank accounts listed below.

Once the admission has been approved, the applicants become eligible to register for the units. For registration to happen, the student must pay at least 50% of the school fees. The registration period is open for a specific period (download the university calendar from www.mku.ac.ke. Students are guided on the units to register.
The online registration is done on the university’s user-friendly student portal. After units registration, the students are able to download the online learning materials from the students e-learning portal.

Mount Kenya University strives to admit those applicants who are best prepared to benefit from and contribute to MKU academic community. Admission specialists will review your application and supporting documentation carefully to assess your overall academic preparation. In evaluating your application, the University will consider the following factors:

- Grades earned in core subjects depending on the specific programmes in which you are interested
- Additional information provided in support of your application.
Before you apply for admission at MKU, you are encouraged to carefully consider the various degree and diploma programmes available, meet with an adviser and when you decide MKU is the place you want to be. Admission to MKU is on a first come first serve basis so be sure to complete your application early.
