What you’ll study

The postgraduate academic year is divided into three terms:

• Term one, study 40 credits for 10 weeks
• Term two, study 80 credits for 20 weeks
• Term three, study 60 credits for 15 weeks

The first two terms are spent studying the taught modules and the last term, pursuing an individual major project.

• ModulesGroup Design Project (20 cp) – During this module, you will focus mainly on the technical aspects of developing a cross-disciplinary group design project. The set projects will be taken from areas of advancing technology.Business Operations and Reliability Management (20 cp) – This module will build on your understanding of operations and reliability management and the interaction of fundamental factors within operating business systems supplying goods upon demand.Global Business Management (20 cp) – This module includes global business enterprises, global supply chain management, international marketing and the strategic importance of integrated marketing, design, finance, manufacturing and distribution.Entrepreneurial Leadership and Project Management (20 cp) – You will develop your appreciation of entrepreneurship and leadership, and their role in economic development, project management and entrepreneurial business success. You will learn the tools and methodologies for effective project management.New Business Venture (20 cp) – Alongside gaining an awareness of the concepts of business opportunity, planning and strategy for the entrepreneurial firm in an industrial context, you will develop the ability to research, create and evaluate a business plan.Major Project (60 cp) – You will apply your understanding of research processes and methodologies to develop and integrate knowledge focusing on a specialist Engineering topic.Research Methods (20 cp) – This module develops your understanding of research design and methodology. As well as being introduced to the School’s research facilities, you will develop the skills necessary for research and for writing a project definition document.
