New York University College of Dentistry Admission Requirements
All students applying to New York University College of Dentistry must meet the following minimum requirements:
1. Bachelor’s Degree
We strongly recommend applicants to the DDS program have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited U.S. or Canadian college or university. However, applicants who do not have a bachelor’s degree, but who have a GPA of 3.5 and have completed 90 or more credits at the time of matriculation will be considered. Applicants with a foreign bachelor’s degree must complete 60 credits in an accredited U.S. or Canadian college or university for consideration.
All applicants must complete their prerequisite courses at an accredited U.S. or Canadian college or university.
2. Prerequisite Course Requirements
All prerequisite courses must have been completed within the past ten years at an accredited U.S. or Canadian college or university with a minimum “C” grade. Prerequisite courses may be satisfied through postbaccalaureate study. All prerequisite courses must be completed prior to matriculation in dental school.
We require a minimum of two semesters or three quarters each of:
- Biology with lab
- Inorganic/General Chemistry with lab
- Organic Chemistry with lab
- Physics with lab
- English/Writing-Intensive
Please note: English as a Second Language (ESL) courses may not be used toward fulfillment of the English/Writing-Intensive prerequisite.
3. Dental Admissions Test (DAT)
Applicants are required to take the DAT. Applicants’ DAT scores must be submitted by February 1st in the year admission is sought.

4. Letters of Evaluation

Applicants with a bachelor’s degree from a school outside of the U.S. or Canada are required to submit a course-by-course evaluation from Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) and official Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores by February 1st in the year in which admission is sought. The ECE evaluation must verify equivalency to a bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited U.S. institution and we require a minimum score of 100 on the TOEFL iBT. TOEFL scores older than two years will not be considered.
7. AADSAS Application
Applications must be submitted online through the American Association of Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS). The deadline for receipt of the AADSAS application is February 1st in the year admission is sought. All applications must be verified by AADSAS for consideration. Responsibility for completing the application rests with the applicant. Applications that are incomplete cannot be acted upon.
8. Virtual Interview
Each applicant to NYU Dentistry must complete an asynchronous video interview via Kira Talent. Following submission of all required materials and the application fee, applicants will receive information on how to register for and complete the virtual interview.
9. In-person DDS Candidate Days
Following completion of the asynchronous video interview, final candidates will receive an invitation to register for and attend an in-person DDS Candidate Day.

Nyu Dental School Graduation Rate
The recent acceptance rate for NYU Dentistry is at 11% from 3,400 applicants, making it one of the most selective dental schools in the country. However, it’s important to note that this rate can fluctuate from year to year based on the applicant pool and the university’s admission goals.
With a four year graduation rate of 75.0% , first-time students in the NYU class of 2015 who attended classes full-time were among the most likely in the nation to graduate on time. After six years, the graduation rate was 83.3% and by 2019 ,84.4% of this class had completed their degree.
Nationwide, the average graduation rate for first-time undergraduates attending classes full-time is: 35.8% after four years, 46.4% after six years, and 47.8% after eight years.
Studies have shown that high-achieving students are more likely to complete their degree on time. Given the academic preparedness of the first-time / full-time students accepted to NYU , we expected that after six years about 88.2% of them would have completed their undergraduate degree.

Application Process to Nyu Dental School

Nyu Dental school’s graduation rate of 69% is extremely high for a private institution. When applying to the dental program at Nyu Dental, the applicant will not have to worry about whether the school will accept you or not. The acceptance rate of this university for undergraduates is extremely high, even for those who did not score well on their DAT test. Because we know that each applicant is different and brilliant in their own way, we believe that every application should be given individual consideration by our admissions committee before they make their decision. Without Nyu’s dental program, many students would not be able to pursue their dreams of becoming a dentist thanks to its generous tuition discounts and need-based aid that includes grants and scholarships.
Facilities
The College of Dentistry is located on First Avenue between East 24th and 26th Streets, about 6 blocks south of the NYU School of Medicine. The College’s facilities include the Schwartz Hall of Dental Sciences, the K. B. Weissman Clinical Science Building, the new 13 floor interdisciplinary building at 433 First Avenue, four newly renovated floors at 137 25th Street, and one floor at 380 First Avenue. These house classrooms, patient clinics, research and teaching facilities, and administrative offices, as well as a state-of-the-art Learning Commons for dentistry, dental hygiene, nursing, and engineering students and an Executive Conference Suite. Clinical facilities include 506 dental operatories. The operatories are designed in modules, each containing a waiting room, offices, X-ray facilities, and a seminar room for instruction and consultation. These facilities enable the College to provide oral health care for thousands of New Yorkers. Library
New York University College of Dentistry from E.25 Street
The College of Dentistry maintains one of the largest rare book dental libraries, close to 1000 volumes, the legacy of Dr. Bernhard Wolf Weinberger, a dental historian, orthodontist and a faculty member in the 1930s. Its collection includes a first edition of the Pierre Fauchard Le Chirurgien Dentist (1728), one second edition (1746) and a third edition (1786). Other volumes include works by Bartolomeo Eustachio, 1563 edition of De Libellus de Dentibus, 1546 and 1547 editions of Artzneybuch (The Little Medicinal Book for All Kinds of Diseases and Infirmities of the Teeth), one of the first German dentally-related book. The original library, founded in 1909 and named the Waldmann Memorial Library in 1978 was digitized and modernized in 2015. The College of Dentistry has moved its “library” into the newly opened Dental-Nursing-Biomaterials joint interprofessional building at 433 First Avenue. The building has a large study area for all students but it no longer houses books. The students have 24 hour access to the study area.
E-Curriculum
Since 2001, NYU Dentistry has replaced traditional textbooks with a collection of digitalized textbooks. All required materials are available to students through a computer-enhanced curriculum. The new technology gives each student a license for all of the textbooks in the curriculum. In addition to traditional textbook content, students are able to view slide presentations and video streams of lab and clinical procedures and do full text searches on their materials.[2]
