In addition to the Online Application, applicants must complete the following:

1. Application fee (non-refundable) of $70

Checks and money orders should be made payable to Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey. Do not send cash. This can also be paid online via a credit card.

The application fee is waived for all military and veteran applicants. If you fall into this category, please e-mail Tishawn Hatchett at tishawnb@business.rutgers.edu prior to submitting your application and send her a copy of your DD 214 form or a copy of your military ID card. Do NOT include your social security number when e-mailing the form. Please block it out prior to sending.

2. Official Transcripts

To expedite the review process, applicants should upload unofficial transcripts to the online application or via email to the admission office. Upon being accepted and committing to the program, applicants must mail in an official transcript for each undergraduate and graduate institution attended.

For Rutgers graduates, please note that even though you are applying to Rutgers as an alumnus, you still need to contact the Registrar’s office and request your official transcript be mailed to our office upon admission to the program.

Applicants holding international transcripts do not need to have their transcripts evaluated unless advised by the Rutgers Business School Admissions Committee. For more information on this, or if you are a domestic applicant holding international transcripts, please refer to our international instructions.

RBS may also selectively consider requests for admission without a GMAT/GRE test score for applicants with several years of work experience and a minimum 3.0 GPA in the most recent degree. Priority may be given to experienced candidates with a graduate degree not listed above (e.g., PharmD or MS in a technical field) and candidates with an excellent undergraduate academic record and leadership qualities who can help RBS meet its goals for diversity on multiple dimensions. You should request a test waiver prior to taking the GMAT or GRE.  See below for more details.

Note:  For all merit scholarship consideration, applicants are required to submit a GMAT or GRE test score.

4. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), IELTS, or Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic)

This requirement can be waived for applicants who have obtained an undergraduate or graduate degree in the U.S. or another English-only speaking country (England, Australia, etc.). This requirement can also be waived if you have three (3) or more years of full-time work experience in the United States.

  1. TOEFL Code: B355
  2. IELTS: Please contact IELTS and have your score sent to our office (address listed below).
  3. PTE Academic is a computer-based academic English language proficiency test designed to measure reading, writing, listening and speaking skills, as they are used in an academic setting. Rutgers Business School requires a minimum score of 68 on PTE Academic.

  • Apply in the spring semester of your junior year by May 1
  • Applicants are required to submit an essay addressing the two topics below on a single Word document:
    • Describe your specific career aspirations and your reason for pursuing an MBA (500 words)

If you fall into this category of a spring applicant, you may not be able to take full advantage of all 12 MBA credits that you are allowed to take as an undergraduate student (depending on your remaining requirements).

In addition to the application checklist, you should be aware of the following special instructions that apply to your application for admission. Because of the additional documentation required, be sure to start the admissions process as soon as possible and adhere to all application deadlines. Students seeking an F-1 Visa are not eligible to apply to the part-time program.

Transcripts

Applicants with international degrees are not required to have their educational credentials evaluated by a NACES evaluating agency.* Applicants should submit original or certified (notarized) copies of all post-secondary transcripts, marksheets, examination results, diplomas and degrees. These documents should be mailed to our address. If not issued in English, a translation must be provided from a professional translation agency.

If you already have an advanced degree from the U.S., you will need to submit an official copy of the advanced degree as well as the official transcripts of your bachelorโ€™s degree.

*Please note that RBS reserves the right to request an applicant to have their transcript evaluated by a NACES accredited credentialing agency. Situations where this could happen are if the applicant has a **three year degree or for applicants requesting a GMAT waiver. The RBS Office of Graduate Admissions will reach out to the applicant with this request. For a list of NACES agencies, go to: naces.org/members.htm

**Selected three-year Indian bachelorโ€™s degrees may be considered equivalent to a U.S. bachelor degree without an evaluation as long as they have been earned in Division I/First Class and the awarding institution is currently accredited by Indiaโ€™s National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a letter grade of โ€œAโ€ or better.  Using the above standards will allow you to know if you are eligible to apply to the graduate programs at Rutgers Business School.
