In 2019, the acceptance rate for the class of 2023 was 7.6%. In 2020, the Finance and International Business programs were both ranked #2 nationally by U.S. News & World Report. Transfer admission to Stern’s undergraduate program is also highly selective, with a transfer acceptance rate of 2% in 2019.

  • Each year the business school invites applications for 600 spots.
  • The business school has a flexible application deadline. Applications submitted even after the application deadlines will also be processed.
  • The College recommends applying when applicants feel that their application is at its strongest.
  • International applicants to the MBA at Stern Business School should submit their application no later than the January 15 deadline.
  • NYU Stern has no minimum standardized test score requirements.
  • All 3-year bachelor’s degrees will be considered for admission from applicants from India.
  • Official and self-reported transcripts and degree conferrals will be verified by the Admissions Committee. The offer of admission can be revoked if there is any discrepancy between the self-reported and official transcripts.
  • An interview may be conducted by invitation only if the Admissions Committee considers it necessary.

COVID-19 Admission Updates

  • Due to the effect of COVID-19 on the working of testing centers, NYU will be accepting TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition scores for admission.
  • For admission to undergraduate programs, standardized test scores are not required for admission to the class of 2025.
  • Graduate students who have made the effort to take the standardized test but are having difficulty due to the public health crisis will be considered for waivers by the Admissions Committee on a case by case basis.

The average NYU Stern GMAT score is 720 out of 800. The mid 80% range for the GMAT is 680 to 760. The distribution of scores should be relatively even throughout the range. The GMAT is an important component of the application but it is by no means a guarantee of acceptance or rejection. You do want to try your hardest to meet at least the minimum of the range of the mid-80% GMAT scores, but if it doesn’t happen, don’t fret. What does the admissions office say?

The components of the NYU Stern Business school application are academic profile, professional achievements and aspirations, and personal characteristics. Make sure that your application represents you as a well-rounded individual with strong academic drive, a wealth of professional and leadership experience, and a fun, amicable personality. The admissions committee are only picking students that will bring something good to the NYU Stern table.
