If you’re looking for an affordable law school that focuses on public service and access to justice and is located in a capital city, then the University of Arkansas at Little Rock William H. Bowen School of Law may be the perfect fit for you.

Tuition is a bargain at $13,352 per year, and out-state residents receive in-state tuition through non-resident scholarships. Bowen is home to the only part-time/evening program in the state, and tuition for part-time students is $8,901. Add a quality education to the mix, and you’ve got yourself a great deal. That’s why preLaw magazine consistently names University of Arkansas at Little Rock a Best Value school.

“In addition to being a good value, Bowen offers experiential learning courses for every student. Our seventh clinic, a Veterans Legal Services Clinic begins in Spring 2021,” said Dean Theresa Beiner. “In addition, our location in Little Rock means students have externship and clerkship opportunities at all levels of government and the largest firms in the state. Bowen is also a Best School for Public Service, and we have the only concurrent JD/Masters in Public Service in the country.”

In addition to an affordable education, students receive a personal education. Students have mentors, who are usually members of the local legal community, who help with career planning, resume workshops and networking. Incoming students also participate in small-group study sessions led by upper-level students. The school has programming aimed at financial and physical health and wellness, including a gym and fitness classes on the law school campus.

“Bowen’s core values are access to justice, professionalism, and public service,” Beiner said. “Our students have chances to work hands-on in these areas from day one.”
