The University of Canterburyโs Master of Business Administration (MBA) programme is a key professional milestone for many aspiring and accomplished business leaders. By focusing on collaboration with industry, the UC MBA produces well-rounded leaders capable of creating and growing international organisations through innovation, digital transformation, data-informed strategy making, and responsible societal engagement.
The programme facilitates opportunities to attend seminars, guest lectures, and networking events, in addition to the course structure which incorporates compulsory and elective courses as well as a consulting project.
The MBA offers a chance to upskill through postgraduate study, make a career change, and gain relevant business connections and experiences.
UC’s MBA is accredited by AMBA which is the global standard for MBA’s. Only the top two per cent of business schools internationally offer AMBA accredited programmes. Te Kura Umanga | UC Business School is also accredited by AACSB and EQUIS; only one percent of business schools in the world have attained all three.

university of canterbury entry requirements
For admission to UC with a NZ qualification (including qualifications achieved at a NZ secondary/high school) you will need to meet the criteria for one of the following entrance pathways:
University Entrance with NCEA
The National Certificate of Educational Achievement (NCEA) is the most common secondary school qualification for New Zealand students and NCEA credits are normally accumulated during Years 11 to 13 in NZ high schools.
NCEA Requirements for University Entrance
The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) administers NCEA and sets the NCEA requirements for University Entrance nationwide. This means details of NCEA requirements for University Entrance are listed on the NZQA website. When you gain University Entrance with NCEA, it will also appear on your Record of Achievement.
If you have submitted an Application to Enrol at UC and you gain University Entrance through NCEA, your admission to the University will be processed automatically once your NCEA results are available.
If you are a Year 12 student with an exceptional academic record applying for entry to UC before completing Year 13, or you have been on an official exchange programme (such as ASF or Rotary) studying overseas for 20 weeks or more, you will need to apply for Discretionary Entrance (see below).
Falling short of University Entrance through NCEA
If you havenโt achieved University Entrance through NCEA, you may be able to qualify for admission to UC by completing the Certificate in University Preparation. If you are only a few credits short of NCEA University Entrance then your own secondary school, Hagley College, Te Kura Correspondence School or Logan Park High School might be able to help you catch up after the official NCEA release date. Note this is not for students applying for a Teaching qualification (BTchLn).
If you are enrolled in Hagley’s Intensive Catch Up Programme and are on track to submit the work for your missing credits before the start of Semester One at UC, then you will be able to start at UC in Semester One. For further information visit the Catch Up College web page on Hagley College’s website.
Please contact us on 0800 VARSITY (0800 827 748) to find out about UCโs admission process for Te Kura or Logan Park Catch Up students. Further information about their programmes see the Logan Park Summer School website.
