The University of Greenwich offers the best of both worlds; city and country. As a student you would be on the doorstep of London, but we also offer the cream of Kent – rolling hills, pub-to-pub walks and seaside resorts. The University has three campuses: Avery Hill and Greenwich in London, and Medway in Kent. The University is proud of its diverse student body. People from more than 140 countries choose to study at Greenwich, part of an international student community of 4,900. Innovation, strong links to industry and commerce, complemented by research excellence and an international agenda are what make the University of Greenwich a leading modern university. The University has a resource base of highly qualified staff with wide ranging expertise and significant links with business and industry; this, coupled with 25,000 students from a variety of backgrounds and countries provides an imaginative and affluent learning experience for all. The University’s vast portfolio of masters and degree programmes, including combined degrees, allows a wide range of subject options. English language tuition and academic support is provided to all international students whose first language is not English. The university provides approximately 2,300 places in halls of residence.

The University is rated as one of the most environmentally friendly in the UK by the People & Planet Green League Table. Following the 2014 Research Excellence Framework, Nursing, Engineering, Agriculture and Veterinary Food Science all performed well.

Accommodation Prices range from £105.35 per week for a standard twin room to £262.64 for an extra-large studio flat. All first year, full-time students who apply by 30 June are guaranteed places in halls.

Although there are a small number of twin rooms and studios available, the majority of rooms in halls are single bedrooms with either shared or en-suite shower/toilet facilities.

The University of Greenwich, formerly known as Woolwich Polytechnic  (1890-19700 and Thames Polytechnic (1970-1992), is a London-based public university. About 20000 students are enrolled in various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes today. The University of Greenwich acceptance rate is at 15.89% indicating high competition. 

The University of Greenwich has three main campuses:

  1. The Greenwich campus is home to Business School and the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Greenwich Maritime Institute, a specialist institute in maritime management, policy and history teaching and research.
  2. The Avery Hill campus houses the faculty of education and health. It also offers several courses at Medway campus.

It has got three campuses situated in London and Kent, England, at Greenwich, on the Former Royal Naval College grounds, and in Avery Hill and Medway.

Avery Hill Campus 

Avery Hill Campus consists of two campuses, Mansion Site and Southwood Site. Both are situated in the 86-acre Avery Hill Park in the Royal Borough of Greenwich, south-east of London. The campus is home to the Faculty of Education and Health. The facilities include computer labs, a library and a TV studio, as well as a fitness and training facility with a sports hall and a 220-seater lecture theater. Southwood Site also has a variety of clinical skills laboratories in operation. These mimic the National Health Service, allowing trainee health professionals to obtain hands-on experience.

Greenwich Campus 

Greenwich Campus is primarily situated in the Former Royal Naval College, where it relocated in the 1990s, when the premises were sold by the Royal Navy. The campus is home to the School of Business and the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences. The campus also contains the Greenwich Maritime Institute of the University, the Maritime Management Specialist, policy and history teaching and research institute.

Medway Campus 

Medway Campus is situated on the former Royal Navy Coastal Base (HMS Pembroke) built in 1903 at Chatham Maritime, Kent. The Faculty of Engineering and Science is based here, as is the Natural Resources Institute, a hub of natural and human resources science, training and learning. It is also home to the Medway School of Pharmacy, a joint school run by the University of Greenwich and Kent. The Faculty of Education and Health is providing a variety of its courses at Medway.

The campus offers all modern-day facilities such as computer labs, library, sports and teaching centres and special labs for clinical skills. Students gain hands-on experience. The campuses also have good accommodation, a general store, a launderette besides a food outlet and gym. Facilities for indoor and outdoor games are also available.  The university also provides scholarships and bursaries to deserving and needy students.
