This adds to the already strong offer here at the University of Liverpool; students seeking a career in law have the convenience of both the academic stage of their training and now the ULaw LPC, BPC or SQE courses available on campus.
Graduates looking to convert to law after completing an undergraduate degree in another discipline can study for ULaw’s GDL or MA Law.
The University of Law will be responsible for providing the educational content, teaching and support of both programmes.
Legal Practice Course (LPC)
As a law graduate aiming to become a solicitor, the LPC represents the final stage of training after gaining either a qualifying law degree or the GDL or MA Law (law conversion course) and bridges the gap between academic study and training in a law firm.
Bar Practice Course (BPC)
As a law graduate aiming to become a barrister, the BPC represents the vocational stage of training after gaining either a qualifying law degree, or the GDL or MA Law (law conversion course) and bridges the gap between academic study and the practical stage of training – pupillage.
Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL)
The GDL is the first step for graduates wanting to convert to law after completing a non-law undergraduate degree.
Master of Arts in Law (MA Law)
The MA Law is a specially designed postgraduate degree for non-law graduates seeking a career in the legal professions.
As an internationally recognised qualification, a Law Master’s is a great addition to your portfolio.
Solicitors Qualifying Exam (SQE) Courses
From September 2021, the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) will be phased in to become the new centralised way to qualify as a solicitor in England and Wales. It will eventually replace the current route to practice – the Legal Practice Course (LPC). ULaw has developed a range of new courses that will prepare you for a career as a solicitor, as well as SQE success.
