World Mission University School Overview
The World Mission Theological University was founded in 1988 in response to the prayers of a special committee of the Oriental Mission Church for a new seminary to train pastors, missionaries and other church leaders. The World Mission Theological Seminary opened its doors to its first students in March 1989. The university’s first president was Rev. Dong Sun Lim.
In 1991, the university received authorization from the California Department of Education to grant the Master of Divinity and Master of Arts degree. In 1992, it followed suite with the introduction of a Bachelor of Arts degree program. To better represent the growing range of academic programs and offerings the university was offering the school changed its name in 1993 to World Mission University.
In 2003, the university relocated to Koreatown, in dowtown Los Angeles – where it currently resides. Soon after its relocation, World Mission University achieved accreditation status with the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools and the Association of Biblical Higher Education. The university also has “Candidate” status with the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada. All three of All three previously mentioned accrediting associations are recognized by the United States Department of Education (DOE) and belong to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
