In addition to a full-time course in Intensive Professional Actor Training, the school provides a programme of evening part-time courses for adults that encourages individuals to grow in confidence and develop better acting techniques.
This year we will be providing a reduced number of part-time courses to allow for social distancing – as such, places will be strictly limited. In addition, there are a variety of courses available solely online.
For a longer commitment, you can learn about our year long part-time courses, in the GSA Suite here.
All classes will take place in person unless government regulations make it necessary to move online. You can keep informed of GSA’s response to the Covid-19 restrictions here.

As there are three levels of the programme – Performance Year, Advanced Performance Year and Performance Theatre Company – we are sure to have a course that fits your skill level.
Each level of the course takes place from October to June, two evenings a week from 7-9pm. Students can audition for any level of the course, and can complete one level in isolation, or indeed complete the three years in succession.
The Diploma in Acting (part time) is a two year acting course designed for those who are starting off in acting, coming back to it after a break and / or who cannot commit to a full time training program.
This course provides a solid foundation in the skills of performance, enabling students to move on to further training or into the profession, depending on individual progress.
Our programme provides regular classes in acting techniques, Improvisation, textual analysis, vocal training and movement. which are all taught by experienced working professionals. There are regular performance projects that enable our students to put their learning into practice. The last term is focused on rehearsals for the graduate production in professional theatre venues in Central London. We aim to prepare students for working as an actor with regular meetings with actors, directors and other industry professionals who will give practical advice on different aspects of the acting world. Unlike many acting schools, students on the part-time course are taught by the same instructors as the full-time courses and have access to the same facilities.
This course in acting is open to anyone over the age of eighteen. Although students are not expected to have a high level of experience, they are expected to have a good work ethic and to be dedicated.
Sessions and classes are held at Bute Street, on Tuesday and Thursday between the hours of 7pm – 9pm, and on alternate Saturdays for approximately 5 hours

First year consists of ‘learning the language’ of acting: inner and outer awareness, performance principles and a full-bodied preparation for physical, intellectual and emotional growth. Second year focuses on ‘speaking and practicing the language’: strengthening and tuning the actor’s instrument while maintaining a strong emphasis on performance, and beginning to present the work to directors, casting directors and agents.
