Kth Royal Institute Of Technology Computer Science Ranking

KTH now ranks 36 among the world’s universities for engineering and technology, according to QS University Ranking, which released its 2019 subject rankings this week. Overall, KTH reached its best result yet in the QS, with eight subject areas ranked now in the top 50 worldwide.

“It shows that there are several subjects at KTH which have the visibility and impact in the scientific community, which is needed to assert itself in these types of measurements,” says Per-Anders Östling, KTH’s ranking experts. “It’s a very positive result.”

Better performance in two indexes formed the basis of the improved scores: Academic Reputation and Employers Reputation. Other contributing factors were the number of citations and H-index (a measure of citations).

Within the QS subject ranking, Statistics & Operational Research (ranked 39), Computer Science & Info Systems (ranked 41) and Mathematics (ranked 44) appeared in the top 50 for the first time.

When we talk about university ranking, KTH Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) has been ranked between 201 and 300 for five years in a row, 2016 and 2020 by ARWU (Shanghai Ranking) – Universities Rankings. The Shanghai ranking does not consider an institution’s reputation among academics or employers, preferring instead to rank universities by considering the level of academic research they produce and the number of Nobel Prizes won by their staff.

Leading ranking organizers such as QS World University has ranked the university 98 for three years, 2018, 2020, and 2021. QS has upgraded KTH’s position to 89 for 2022 in its world university ranking. It reflects that KTH has improved on key parameters like faculty/student ratio, academic reputation, and citations per faculty. QS has also ranked KTH at 70th position worldwide in its Graduate Employability ranking for 2022.

Times Higher Education has ranked the university between 201 and 250 for 2020 and 2021. While QS puts a maximum focus on Academic Reputation (40%) followed by Faculty/Student Ratio and Citations per Faculty at 20% each, Times Higher Education (THE) devotes equal importance to Teaching, Research, and Citations at 30% each. Specific to the US, the US News & World Report – Global Universities has ranked the university 305 for 2021. The US News & World Report takes into account Global Research Reputation, Regional Research Reputation, and Number of Publications cited (12.5% each) among other ranking parameters, as part of their ranking methodology. kth royal institute of technology undergraduate admission requirements

KTH Royal Institute of Technology is organized in five schools that offer 60+ UG and PG-level courses, all taught in English and open for international students. While the only available UG program is offered as a three-year BSc degree, KTH Royal Institute PG programs are majorly designed as per the two-year model.

In terms of the academic session, KTH adheres to the semester-based academic system with sessions beginning in the Autumn (August) and Spring (January) seasons. However, the admissions are conducted annually only, wherein applicants are required to submit their applications via Swedish Central University. 

For international students, securing admission at KTH Royal Institute of Technology is moderately difficult. Presently, international students comprise 30% of the total student population (13,500) of KTH. As mentioned, the academic sessions at KTH are divided into two semesters of 20 weeks. For UG courses, applications are invited in Round 1  and Round 2. Sweden Visa Process for International Students

Non-EU/EEA/Swiss students seeking admission into full-time programs at KTH will have to obtain a student visa from Swedish Agency. The application is to be submitted 3 months before applying for a visa at KTH.

To get a visa students must submit the following documents:

  • Letter of acceptance
  • Financial Support details for the whole duration of the study
  • Proof of payment for a residence permit in Sweden
